Trampoline vs. backyard setup...

yeah my yard is pretty small so basically i only have room for one or the other. which one in your opinion is more cheap/fun/beneficial for your skiing?

Put some pvc pipe the same diameter of the hole in the noodle. cut out a section in the center and put old shoes/tape them in there. you now have skis that dont flop around when trying to learn grabs and shit

go with the summer setup. it will improve your skiing much more. I can misty and backflip on tramps but i cant do that shit skiing. a rail will actually help

backyard setup for sure. if you learn something on a rail in your backyard it is the same thing as doing it on a mountain. but on a tramp your balance is way different. summer setup is more beneficial to skiing

Rails for sure cause if you want to get better air awareness and such you can go use tramps at a gym. backyard rail set ups are harder to come by. cheaper if built right as well.

Trampoline for sure. althought a backyard setup is fun you will probably get borde of it after a couple of month and a tramp is wlot more praticle and you dont have to put your boots on to use it

well i actually have a bunch, maybe it wasnt as nice as yours but i still feel like without the air awareness you get from tramps, you can really fuck yourself when you try corks n rodes n stuff like that

Find a friend who has a tramp and go with the backyard setup. Being able to ski every night is way better than a tramp that gets kinda boring.

Summer set up! best when it rains especially and you can really progress your rail game and the transition over to snow is its only easier because of better set up rails with real snow. Also the more sketch your summer set up is the easier sketch urban has to be

Tramp. I just got a 14ft round one with nets and shiz, the progression you can make in terms of air awareness and just not being a pussy about going upside down is ridiculous.

Plus, as mentioned,you can just go and jump on a tramp for a bit then go inside again. There's no setup, no getting your gear on blah blah.

i think a set up is better for you have all the weight, for with a set up with all the weight you get your pop , and maintain your skis in the air

I can't say since I don't have a summer set up but I am planning on making one. Trampoline is really g fun and helps you get comfortable with varying air tricks.

Someone mentioned ankle weights for the trampoline...does anyone know what a good weight is for them, like 5 lbs?

lets put it this way are you just gonna huck a cork before having any idea of what your doing...id say get a trampoline and then buy roller blades and go urban with them or go to skatepark with them

I would go with a trampoline. I love mine. Plus you get core strength. It is surpising how much core strength you gain over the summer. MY first time on my trampoline this year I was out of breath after like 2 big backflips. By the end of the summer I will be able to jump for almost 10 minutes straight before I need a rest.

Go with the trampoline. You can use it for a lot more than doing tricks, whereas you can only use a Backyard setup for... well... skiing.

tramp!!!! i had both and sold my 5 rails and drop in for 10 dollars haha. I have two tramps. one is a regular round one with a net and pad and my other is a 15x9 gymnastics trampoline i got for 100 bucks haha. its scary as hell but mad fun.

I would get a summer setup. You get sooo much better at rails if you are out there 1 - 2 hours everyday. I learnt all eight last summer on a friends setup. And, trampolines are also more normal than summersetups, so you could probably jump to a friend or something.

If you learn how to do things properly on a tramp (such as not just hucking yourself like a madman) a tramp will help tremendously with jumping.

summer setups aren't the best in my opinion, they take far more work to keep functional (i know, call me a lazy asshole)

but ultimately, if you know what you're doing on one; tramp. if not; you'll benefit from a summer setup more.

the trampoline is endless hours of easy fun

its also a good workout

i think a set up would be less fun overall and more work to get your skis on, water it, and plus a trampoline still helps yours skiing

i have both but,

tramp will gove you real strong core and help you with air wareness, also gets you fit as hell, i personally use my tramp more than my summer set up.

summer set up gets you gnarly at rails and cost way less. it also gets you fit hiking it.

I find it hard to do any tricks that is corked on a tramp because u dont have snow to carve off of. Although it has helped me with my confidence doing backflips and general confidence in the air. However my backyard setup is SICK. i built it early spring and just 2 months after the season ended i've learned probabally 10 more rail trix. although if u make the rails bad then its gonna be unrealistic and you'll be all fucked up at the beginning of the season. AND as a +... i only spent 75$ building my setup and our tramp was $269.99 HOPE THIS HELPS

tramp..got sick of my summer set up..jumping on a tramp is always fun..and its more chill to do with friends because they dont need to ski or snowboard to use it.. trampolines are the best.

alot of people have tramps so try to make friends with some one with one you can use often and alot of citys have a gymnastics place with usually have like an open gym of some sort with like foam pits and really bouncy tramps, so id go with back yard set up its cheaper and just try to do what i said before

tramp if you want to work on jumps, turf to rail if you need to work on rails, but imo tramp for sure its so much more fun.

not necessarily me and my friend seshed my backyard setup for more than 4 hours yesterday. it's a lot of fun especially switching up rails and such if you have a nice setup

learning tricks

backyard yard setups can be used for:

set up: real trick with skis, as you would do it on the mountain
tramp: easier to learn, just less real, ie no skis, up and down
