I ran a bus stop sign........help

I ran one of these on accident, bus driver called the cops. Cops came to my house. I told him everything that happened and he said he would get back to me. Some kids were off the bus by the way, which i guess is some serious stuff. I also have a clean driving record.

Possible outcomes:
Go to court and get a gross misdemeanor with a hefty fine.
Go to court get a hefty fine.
Not go to court and get a semi hefty fine.

Its the bus drivers call and by the sounds of it he/she wasnt too happy.

Has this happened to anyone or know what will happen?

damn that sucks, why don't you call the bus driver and try to figure something out to make it less serious, cause that sucks otherwise

how did the cop know where you live or who you were. I never thought of bus drivers being quick enough to get someones license plate # lol. Back when I took the bus people would run through all the time and the driver would just resort to fist shaking.

He obviously wasn't paying attention, there is a large stop sign and flashing bus lights, how do you miss that. I bet he hasn't even had his license long. He should learn a lesson about mistakes you can make and their consequences.

When i was going back to my house i actually saw a cop 5 cars behind me but thought nothing of it. He must of saw me turn down my street and then he went looking for my truck and saw it in the driveway.

You don't "accidentally" run one a bus stop. They blink yellow, then red.

If you ran it red, you deserve what's coming to you, because that is fucking foolish on your part.

I agree with you. If his eyes were off the road so much that he missed a stationary yellow school bus with 4 red flashing lights he shouldn't have his license.

I saw the flashing lights (did not see the arm). To tell you the truth i really didnt know what to do, i've never been in that situation.

And beezey i'll have had my license for 3 years in june.

if it makes you feel any better the kids pretty much fucked unless he gets a good lawyer and gets lucky with the judge. No one takes this lightly even if it was an accident, which does happen, busses can pull some pretty shitty things some times and those drivers arent paid nearly what they should be for what they are responsible with. I could get a job driving a dump truck and make atleast double what thye get per hour and not have young lives at my hands

That would have just put me in more guilt the bus driver obviously saw me drive by and the kids on the bus saw me to probably. Thats a good 10 witnesses.

The only thing wrong i got on my test was taking 2 maneuvers on the 90 degree back, otherwise i passed with flying colors. Im from minnesota and i bought my own vehicle.

Plus you never know which way the kids are crossing. Kids have gotten hit crossing the street plenty of times even with the lights on and the stop sign arm on the side. Hence why they make a big deal out of it.


With somethings like that, if it wasn't a big deal like a 10 dollar fine, you'd have people running late for work blow by the bus saying oh well if I get caught it's no big deal anyway.

i think buses should not have those stupid fucking signs, kids can wait for the bus to pass along with the chain of cars behind it to cross the fucking road, if they get hit by traffic, we have a prefect case of natural selection.

How the fuck is anyone on NS supposed to know? Got any lawyers on here doubtful. I guess if you're dumb enough to pass a school bus with flashing lights and stop sign out you're dumb enough to consult a website that consists of kids 13-20 somethings for legal advice

Your are a fucking Idiot, how did you see a giant yellow bus, flashing, with multiple stop signs stick out of it and come to the conclusion that it was ok to pull around it? thats not an accident. An accident would of been you not seeing the bus and would of resulted in you plowing into the back of it.

You will get charged with something along the lines of failing to stop for a school bus. If you mean what will you be fined, well in Ontario I THINK the fine is around 1500-2000 (anyone feel free to correct me). So that plus your insurance will shoot up.
