Gnarly Xray Images thread

At Rowen's suggestion, I'll start this thread off (even though I don't have an orange name).

Injury: Compression fractures at T4-5; incomplete spinal cord lesion.
How: DH biking. Bounced a landing and got tossed head-first into a tree.
When: October 2010
Surgeon work: spinal fusion T2-T8. Two rods, 12 screws + cadaver bone to help vertebrae fuse. (permanent)
Time to back on skis: 3 months, 7 days.

Injury: Broken femur.
How: DH biking. Overshot a big jump and landed flat.
When: September 2005
Surgeon work: 1 rod, 3 screws (removed after 6 months)
Time to back on skis: 10 weeks.

@ Matty all I can say is wow. Is there link to the story on that one?

All in all I'm super thankful that I've only ever done my ACL and fractured both ankles with no surgery and some ligament damage nothing as crazy as these x-rays. Touch wood. + Vibes to all of you that haven't healed yet.

spiral femur fracture. i overshot and over rotated a jump skiing, my skis got caught and twisted my leg causing it to snap. i could wiggle the top part of my leg without moving the rest of my leg below the fracture.

and two months later due to my stupidity, i went on a trampoline and re-fractured it, bending the pins about 45 degrees. the doctors said that they're not supposed to be able to bend, so they put even bigger pins in and they are still here. i don't ever notice them and often forget that they're there so it's pretty good.

thats not xray but its gnarly,this happen after i received a trampoline spring in my eye...

take 3 months to get back to skiing.I had an iris cerclage surgery.i can barely see of this eye now but i still have luck that it didnt blow up my eye.

WHY WERE YOU ON A TRAMPOLINE 2 MONTHS LATER. Christ that sucks, but seriously, what were you thinking?

Brooke, bruises are gone, but the rock hit left a lot of scarring on the back of my leg. Also have the fun frankenstein lookin sites on my leg from the surgery, traction pins, etc, little incisions with dots on the side from the staples. Ask me next time you see me, I'll show you some scars.

I was so chapped I wasn't able to do anything that when I could walk almost normally I thought I'd be fine to go on the tramp. It didn't help that my parents were on vacation and couldn't stop me, and I ruined their vacation. I felt terrible for that more than anything.

Broke my collar bone into 4 pieces at Mt Bachelor, screwed em together with a titanium plate. Now filming at Hood and working at MHSSC.

I broke my calcaneus on the spring time this season, its been 2 months and a half without puting pressure on it. Going to start "walking" with a crutch next monday. Skiing accident, hit a knuckle real bad.

Was looking at some really boring X-rays in Anatomy today, and thought of this thread. It's been nearly 2 years, I am sure NS has hurt themselves many more times.

No X-ray anymore but my right index was crushed between a steak and a sledge hammer. My finger was hanging on. My geat grampa, God bless him, hooked me up with some towels and duct tape and said we needed to finish, so we did!

The man was shot in the battle of the Bulge, I thought finishing a fence wouldn't be that bad!

OP compound fractured femur... ten weeks till back on skis? i had a similar tib/fib compound fracture and with physio it was about 8 months before I could run again due to the atrophy in my leg.

Is there a picture of the jump and/or tree that you hit, and what resort were you at? I was doing some DH in BC this year, but I didn't come out looking like that! That's insane, but putting it in perspective, 3 months is pretty quick to be on skis again, so you're very lucky.

my buddy would be a legend in this thread. overshot a 45 foot jump, he went 120+ feet. shattered his pelvis and came less than 1mm away from being paralyzed

wish i could find the xray of my gun shot, right through the foot and bone, pretty gruesome and agonizing. theres still metal floating aaround, they didnt wanna take it out.

No x-rays but on this particular injury, I overshot a jump we built on loveland pass back in 2008. landed flat, majorly, busted 4 teeth, shattered my jaw bone, and split my lip wide open.

I'm not gonna lie some of this stuff scares the shit out of me. Ever since i broke my collarbone like 5 years back I've always wondered, has anyone else who has done that gotten the feeling like there was a blowtorch on your collarbone when it broke?
