Shaun whites pass clipped

yesterday at breck i was riding in the gondola with this random dude and his girlfriend.  he started telling her this story and i just sat and listened.  He said shaun white was riding at keystone i think and cut everyone in line and just hopped in a gondola and didnt let anybody else in.  the lifty stopped the lift and called him out saying he couldnt do that.  he flipped out and was yelling at her saying stuff like "fuck you bitch, dont you know who the fuck i am? nobody treats me this way" then she called the ski patrol manager and he asked shaun how he got a pass.  he said the GM gave him a free 10 day pass then the patrol clipped his pass and said come back tomorrow and buy your own pass. owned.

like i said this was just some random guy talking to his girl so it obviously could be bullshit.  I was just wondering if anybody else heard about this or not.  It seems kind of retarded that keystone would throw the most widely recognized snowboarder out of their resort but then again who knows.  maybe they wanted to send a message, maybe this dude just wanted to get laid with a dumb story about shaun white.

Good shaun white is a dick. A friend of mine goes to Keystone (he attend's some community college in CO) anyway, he has long red hair, similar to shaun, and one day he got on the lift withmy friend. He wasnt trying to copy him with the hair or anything but stiil shaun looks at him and says, "what are you trying o be me something?" and he said "no." so shaun responds, "good, cause i saw you in the park and you dont have any skill to rep my hair. or clothing line" so eric says, "well thats fine burton sucks anyways asshole" and got off the lift...i know cool story

shaun whites a huge fag. he spent like a whole winter training to learn dub corks and dub mc twists in a special training facility while louie vito,scotty lago and some other guys just learned it in a regular pipe.people think he represents snowboarding, but he only does pipe? hes retarded for actin like hes better thatn everybody.

shawn white has probably signed at least 10 thousand autographs in his life, im pretty sure he prolly doesnt want to have to sign 20 after every motherfucking park run. And i can see why he has a snake crew because all boarders and skiers do these days is sit at the top of tables (at a location where they cant get enough speed for the next hit) and right when you try to drop above them at a high enough location, some gaper gets infront of you and cases the jump. So i have sympathy for shawn in both cases,  i usually dont like gingers, but shawn transends that shit, so i would just give him a break and stop hating unless you can medal in both skate vert and halfpipe and slopestyle in xgames against the best in the world.

I don't know how legit this pass clipping story is, but this is also what turned me to dislike this guy. He was there on Christmas break a few years ago and he took the ski school line cut every time and got on a lift by himself with enormous lines standing by waiting for him. One of those days we had Jon Olson and Andreas Hatveit waiting in line while Mr. White scooted past all of us and cut. Who the fuck does this guy think he is?

Hearing people bitch about behavior like this cracks me up. He's got an attitude and a bank account to back it up, so what? Do you have any idea how pedestrian this story sounds when simply moved to another town... say, Vegas? The kind of absurd shit that rich people do here on a regular basis would clearly drive you out of your mind if some faggoty redheaded snowboarder on a minor ego trip through Keystone was too much for you to handle. I would imagine any damage he did was paid for and I'm sorry, but part of owning a world-class recreation facility is dealing with the blowback from filthy rich people partying. Think of how many times you've been at a party when something stupid happened... now, imagine if you and your friends all had a MASSIVE budget and could take your party anywhere to do anything.

He isn't running around punching babies or peeing on grandma, he's just become known for partying hard and being a bit of a rich snob. Sure, you might not appreciate the rich snob attitude, but what does getting on here to whine about someone else's personal conduct REALLY do for you? Grow up and learn to have a sense of humor about life...

Hey.. If your country doesn't provide enough salary for waitresses without tip, it's not my problem. I've only tipped someone once in my life and even then it felt wrong.

A perception skewed by certain cultures. Look, I've worked in jobs that in many other countries or cultures would be of the "tipping" kind, and I did my job as well as I could. Hence, the only tips I've received were from people from other countries (Italy, France, French-Canadian) but I never asked for it. I did my job well and it was their decision to give me something, it didn't affect my work in any way, for better or worse.

Simple as that, no double-standard here.

Just because you've got your passport that says in my country we don't tip, doesn't give you any excuse not to.

Just because you've never asked for a tip doesn't put you off the hook either.

When the service person's wage depends upon your tip to make their job legal (e.g. restaurant owners in the US do not have to pay wait staff minimum wage because they make tips) why would you think that you do not have an obligation to tip?

in quebec, minimum wage for waiters and waitresses is lower than the normal minimum wage because the government wants them to declare their tips and be taxed on it. however, in quebec, you are NOT obligated to tip. tipping is a courtesy where you give an amount of money to your server based on the service they gave you, and that is purely definition and fact. if you receive shitty service, why tip or tip the standard %? that's the whole point. a tip is given to people who treat you respectfully, and perform well at their job. above all, in quebec, if you ask for your tip after the service, you should forget about receiving one because it's fucking rude and it's pretty much a written rule somewhere probably on the government's website about working the service industry.

to whom it may concern:

in a lot of places like in europe, and i think, australia, service IS included, therefore tips are often not even expected, and VERY often refused. when i went to france and italy, we were customed to tipping, but many of our waiters refused to accept them.

that being said, if you are to consider yourself a respectful individual, then when you do enter a country, you should utmostly abide by their customs, ESPECIALLY, if the person service you is making 6$ an hour, like in quebec(may have gone up along with min. wage). service is NOT included in north america. PERIOD. consider that if you plan to visit. and if you choose not to tip a decent to good waiter, then go to taco bell or go home, because those people work extremely hard, kissing ass, being shat on, yelled at, and running around. yeah, it's their job, but you neglect that in your country, where ever tipping isn't a custom, that the money is included in their pay already, and not here.

Shaun is probably the most recognized person in all of winter sports. Getting swarmed by random gapers after every single run would get really old in a hurry.

I see it a different way; of course you're right, you do not have to tip -- you can pay the amount at the bottom of the bill and walk out the door and there's nothing that will stop you from doing so. But that's not what i mean when i say you're obliged to tip.

The way I see it is the tip is your leverage with the wait staff. If there was something wrong with your food, service, etc. you use the tip to keep the waiter on your side if you want them to bring food back to the kitchen, comp a portion of your meal, talk to the manager, what have you...

if the waiter is the cause for poor service, has a shitty attitude, and its not the fault of the kitchen or management, then you can detract your tip from there, but in the end they still were providing you a service, albeit shitty service, and are entitled to some compensation. Therefore I don't think you should ever not leave a tip -- if you want to prove your point that they were shit, leave pennies. It's far more disrespectful because it says i know you deserve a tip and this is what you're worth.


In the other countries where tips are not customary, waiters are making $15-20/hr. It would be insulting to tip them because they don't deserve it and it comes across as patronizing, assuming they 'need the extra assistance' (of course that's if you're not the uninformed foreigner)

he doesnt have to continue to be a professional snowboarder. if hes that annoyed with all the fans then he shouldnt continue doing whats gonna get him more fans. look at travis heed, professional skiing evidently wasnt what he wanted so he stepped out of the limelight.

That story of him trashing the hotel gives me far more respect for Shaun White. Didn't anyone remember awhile ago when he got cited in Breck for being drunk and people thought he stole a car?

Oh no, he snakes people in Park Lane and skips that line. If people snaked me in Park Lane I would just drop in anyway right behind them. If they fall, they get run over. They learn quickly to not do it again. If you could skip the line of fucking front range gapers wouldn't you too? If you feel that strongly about it just box him out and prevent him from snaking.

It's not like people give him a free pass out in the water. If he snaked people at more localized beaches in SD he would get sent home. But I respect him for not giving a shit on the mountain. I would spray gapers at Breck on my way back to work too just to be able to get through the day of dealing with them. Just because he won't stop for some chicken fucking Texan doesn't mean his evil. His general fucking gingerness does make me repulsed though.

The main principle in your leverage theory is just a bit warped in my mind. There should be no room for leverage on anything, and that is because there should be no need for a tipping culture and wages should be set accordingly. That is my main point here.

And that 15-20$ is pushing it, try $10 on weekdays minus taxes (with that pay, roughly -19%) + how expensive Finland is, for example. Still, tipping isn't embedded in our culture. I see so many convos on the net about "Guy only gave me a 10$ tip, what a DICK!" and such... gives me a fucking headache.

sounds to me like he had a wicked awesome night and youre a little jealous, as am i. i bet he looks back and laughts at that because he just gave them a shit ton of money and went and partied at some other place for a year.  sure he takes advantage of his status a little too often and acts shitty from time to time.  big fucking deal, he doesnt want to be a role model everyone just puts these assumptions on him.  hes a fucking kid he is just doing whatever the fuck he wants and sometimes is a huge faggot.  a lot of us would act the exact same way if we were him.

10 euro is still 13 usd though, and in the US (CO at least) the service minimum wage is 4.23. Thats what my sister makes as a bartender an hour, thats what I made as a server. I definitely would have rather worked for 13 an hour every hour. There were nights I would get off an eight hour shift making fifty bucks total, I had days where I would be the only server and have 2-3 tables all day. Then, I would have crazy shifts, walk with 250, and blow it all on drugs/alcohol. The way the restaurant system is set up in the US is awful. Its just another way the upper class can keep themselves separated from the lower/middle class. BUT...back on topic, in Summit County, they don't pay much more than in Denver and the cost of living is crazy. Stiffing someone on a 60 dollar bill after them giving good service, and only stiffing them because they asked for an autograph (and shaun not giving it) makes you an asshole. I hope this story is true.
