If First Drop made skis.....

- what kind of skis would you want them to be- park? pow?
- what length would you prefer- 175ish? 185ish?
- what would you call them?
- what would the graphic look like?

all im sayin is pros and badass skiers make skis because kids look up to pros and want to ski like them. i dont think LJ is anxiously awaiting fd to release the ns.com with 6 tails 5 dimensions and a 175 with a 93 waist and medium flex, maybe with some bamboo in it.

also you must have glanced over the rest of the site.

Why do you care so much about FD making skis though?
And personally I think that FD will look at this thread and use what we want, and I think that that is great. A company that will look at what we want in a ski.

Most of what I see though is a 180 ski with a over 90 under 100 waist, that's fully symmetrical.


I don't know about you, but that would be an ok ski. Like the Anthem brought back from the dead.

keep it simple kids that wear first drop dont ski real snow they jib rails and do spins off jumps. make three park skis


1st one: really soft 113/83/113 fully cambered

2nd one: pretty soft 119/93/119

3rd one extremely soft 137/110/135

I would say maybe make one park ski and one pow ski. But do something EXTREME. Make like a straight no sidecut fatass pow ski with copious amounts of rocker or something, maybe a waterski design, which I know there are some reverse sidecut skis out there, but make a jibby version or something.

when i demoed a pair of night trains i felt like it was way easier for switch landings and kind of plowing through crud. it may cut speed a little but not by a noticable amount.

I think doing something different and progressive would be the best. rather than playing it safe with just another generic ski, which every company makes. since your an outerwear company, not depending on the sale of your ski's, i think any risk associated with a very different type of ski would be worth it.

i would really like to see park oriented skis in the 100-115 range, think maiden ak size maybe, but soft, and alot of rocker. maybe including butter zones with the rocker? maybe something crazy with the side cut, or like that one snowboard company where the sides of the ski, before the edge, are bend slightly up, kinda making the ski very slightly U shaped.
if it was something new and different, i think alot of people would be interested and try it out. if it was just another 80-90 waist stiff park ski, everyones gonna go with the companies that they know are good. same with pow skis.

they do not care about what ns thinks... its called hype.

and personally liberty skis suck, and always have. FD skis would be the same and you all know that. last time I check FD was at the liberty booth at SIA. the combination of lesh and libertys would be a ski that does HELLA sweeeeet straight on straight off slides, and then the binding would rip out if you even thought about doing any other trick.

Well, I'm not obese, or even closeto being obese... And the majority of people in this thread are asking for skis 180+, meaning that they are probably 6ft or taller, which is pretty normal...

Make them in a variety of sizes and they will sell a lot better. Make a 170 something, a 185, and a 195. Something With JJ like dimensions, stiff flex, rocker tip and tail, camber underfoot, super durable edges, and a good quality topsheet (not k2 or line, like Armadas). Bamboo core would be awesome as well. And the graphics should be simple. Not crazy like Hellbents, but not plain either though. The white EP Pros were awesome, and sorry to mention JJs again, but the 08/09 JJs were also sick.

except make it more like a 7 flex. soft flex + rocker would be too soft. also, consider making the tips and tails really low...like they don't curl up a bunch and look gay. i think skis that barely curl up in the tip and tails look sick- like lib techs. plus, with the early rise, you won't have to worry about them catching.
