Hopefully someone gets the sunny reference, but I just want to get people together to talk about their degree plans. I wish I had more guidance when I was younger and spent way more time on these forums. Maybe this will end up a how-to guide for the bulk of NS, which I assume the average age of is 14-17 or so? I'll start it off even though I still don't know what I want to do. I've got an Associate's Degree in Media Communication. There we did everything from journalism to video/television production. I'm 3 semesters away from my Bachelor's Degree in Business-Administration. After that, who knows what i'm going to do. Definitely not me, so what's everyone else doing?

Anyone that finds that they are good at Accounting should at least give it a decent look. Accountant's are almost always in need, and they can make pretty good salaries. I find the work extremely boring like a lot of people , but if you can do it you can do it almost anywhere.

I currently hold a BS in economics with a poli sci minor (pointless but kind of interesting classes).

I'm debating over the next 6 months or so what I want to do for post-grad. I have the option of doing a masters/phd in econ. Which means I could teach anywhere I wanted if I do well in the program. I'm also debating on law school or an MBA. Who knows.

I'm in my senior year of BSc Economics. Starting PhD in Economics (the role of reserve banking in Asian economies, all good fun) next year, funding pending.

Then I'll try and get a research fellowship, professorship, then hopefully tenure at an Ivy or UCB.

It's win-win, it's a well paid job, near ski hills

yeah man, I go to uwo too. shittiest skiing, but there are some gnarly urbans on campus.

i'm 2nd year Honors Specialization in Geographic Information Science, hoping to maybe get a masters eventually, maybe even a phd if i'm feelin' it haha.

Dual major in communications and film, looking to get into marketing later down the road.
I began with environmental science, but realized that i really hated it and switched to the dual major.

i got a degree in MIS - management information systems. think of it as IT management, or the business side of software development. my classes focused on systems development with a specific focus on software. basically my goal is to be some sort of project manager.

there were 30 people in my graduating class with an MIS degree, all but 5 have a job now and everyone that i've talked to about it is getting at least $60k right out of college. You can do a ton of shit with an MIS degree - almost anything a computer science, management, electrical engineering, supply chain major can do.

if i had to recommend a major for anyone, it would be an MIS or some other information systems degree with a computer science double major or minor. the job market is incredibly strong and network services/software development/information systems jobs pay fucking BANK right out of college and there is a ton of room for promotion. i got a minor in chinese too and i just got a job where i travel 5 days a week with everything paid for, $65k a year, and i can live wherever i want as long as i have access to an airport. the travel thing isn't for everyone, but im totally cool with it

both of my brothers are majoring in MIS and my dad works at a company called Ednetics that does the networking for a bunch of universities in the pnw. i would of followed suit, but i have no math skills.

Are you in the quant program at CU by any chance?
I took calc 2 for engineers with the intention of going into the quant program but that class wrecked me.

Just read a book on the quants who had a huge part in the market crash. Those were some damn smart people, regardless of what happened.

Anyways Business with either a specialization in accounting or finance and a minor in economics.
