I dont use musclemilk anymore ;)
i wasnt very impressed with any of this years superunknowns, everyone who's good enought to actually win it just had the same generic style and same tricks, there was nothing that really stood out much in terms of people having their "own" bag of tricks, and pretty much nobody had their own style, just the same style thats the hot shit right now. level 1 has so many riders already with that generic style, and adding another person with the same style, and not the trick ability is just gonna be a waste, they can get the same shots from any of their other riders, and they can do it better.
level 1 needs some different types of people, someone like max hill, or garrett russell. right now the only real stand outs they have are adam delorme, who is awesome, stefan thomas, duncan adams, hornbeck cause of his tricks, and some guy who's name i forgot. with most the rest i feel like im just watching the same person, wearing a different jiberish sweatshirt/tall t combination for different shots.
and what the hell happened to steele spence, travis redd, and alot of those other riders who used to be so awesome?
i agree, i think the whole thug thing can be awesome, for example, twalls superunknown really got me back into the park scene, and i love 4bi9, yet when you go back to an older level 1 movie, something like shanghai six, its so refreshing because the everybody brings their own thing to the table, theres a diverse soundtrack, and its just really well and balanced. i think refresh is sick too, but its a jib flick, and its alot of the same. Where is someone like steele spence, who would give something a little different than liams baggy style (both of which had sick styles, they were just different). Why is everybody afraid to hit the slopes without their tall tee on, where is somebody who is bold enough to put metallica in a video instead of a remix of the same wu-tang song everybody's heard a million times (i do love wu tang tho). I know im full of contradictions right now, im just saying i would like to see some different stuff hit the ski industry.
that being said, my three favorite just happen to be some thugged out edits, just because i think theyre the best at skiing this year: tim, bellemare, and villa all slay and definately have unique styles.
