are you surprised? With morons like Keith Olbermann and Matt Lauer, it should be no surprise that this network sucks majorly. Have you seen their ratings? Absolutely dismal, and Olbermann is a prissy, arrogant, gaping asshole. That guy has ZERO credibility.

well, considering Jackson and Sharpton are two of the biggest racists in current-day America, it's easy to get them mixed up, especially when no one on MSNBC has any sort of background in political science. Most of them are communications majors and get their material from left-wing blogs. (OLBERMANN) They don't know a damn thing, the only talent they have is creating flattering angles for themselves and honing their voice to the utmost degree of arrogance. Oh, that, and slamming fox news, which is funny. It's like the kid who came last in the special olympics making fun of Michael Phelps for winning 8 gold medals.

god, I wish they paid me. I could use a little money, I'm sick of eating greasy dining hall pizza every night. I like ratings because they gauge the success of a station. MSNBC and the 37 other shitty stations are obviously doing something wrong because they have been in the red for some time now. Even with Obama's war against Fox news, their ratings have continued to climb. It's funny how such a hated news outfit is that far above the competition. I think part of it is because people are tired of Olbermann and Lauer and their ilk sucking Obama's ding-dong every night. I'll admit Glenn Beck is a bit over the top, but I like him, he is entertaining and I agree with his (sometimes libertarian) philosophies. But he is an entertainer, but alot more qualified and intelligent than olbermann is. I think Olbermann has some serious Beck envy though, he is always flaming on the guy. Beck gives it back sometimes, but Olber-douche is like a petulant little child.

haha I agree with you there, especially in the case of MTV, because truly stupid people tune into that channel. At the same time, I think success is extremely important because it's directly linked to advertising. When you have constantly laughable ratings, companies are less likely to pay for spots on the air, which can lead to a network shut down (goodbye msnbc). That's why talk radio is thriving, because tons of people listen to it and it's an easy way for advertisers to reach a huge audience. Liberal talk radio has been in the tank for years because no one listens to it. The advertisers left because they were getting any play, and left-wing talk is virtually non-existant now. Don't fool yourself though, plenty of talk radio networks have liberal shows. I listen to 96.9 wtkk in Massachusetts for Jay Severin, Michael Graham, Michelle McPhee, and Curtis Schleewa. They run the gamut from Moderate to Conservative to Libertarian. BUT, on the same station, I also listen to Margery Eagan and Jim Braude. Braude is a raging lib but I think he is really bright and hilarious. Maybe you have seen him on Broadside with Jim Braude on NECN. But I think you are giving fox a bad rap by saying everyone who watches it is stupid. I know plenty of people who tune in regularly who are brilliant and successful. The same goes for CNN, NECN, and MSNBC.

Honestly what did you expect?

My theory on the whole debate starting here is that the media opposition will always thrive ...that is where Olberman and Maddow got their start and their following- by opposing the Bush "regime". Now with Hannity and Beck (and others to a lesser extent) throwing dirt at Obama, congress, and the left they are reaping the rewards of a huge audience and ratings due to their oppositional voice.

hahahahaha....so Fox News is the news equivalent of an olympic champion? I mean, come on...even if you hate MSNBC (I dont watch it so I don't really know if it is good or bad), you gotta realize that Fox is a right wing media outlet with minimal credibility. I watch Fox News when I get tired of Mad TV reruns on Comedy Central. I just went on foxnews' website and clicked on a random article about including attacks based on sexual orientation as hate crimes. This is kind of a no-brainer. The article isn't too terribly slanted, but they give the last word to some bigot republican who somehow thinks that protecting homosexuals from hate crimes could lead to an infringement of freedom of speech...a bit of an odd position to give the last word.

yeah I think you can make an argument out of that. I like fox because it isn't constant Obamafest. MSNBC and the other stations rarely criticize, much less question, the Obama admin. It makes me sick, the standard of journalism in this country is currently at 0. I can't even open up the Boston Globe without getting disgusted by the slavish nature of their columnists. So many people seem to be in the pocket of the admin. At least with fox you get the other side of things. While they may be constantly on the offensive with the Obama admin, it's nice knowing that not everyone wears kneepads when they report on Obama. But it's true, network news could use a lot of work. I like to read the wallstreet journal, even though I'm not an economist. I also get most of my shit online. My school doesn't broadcast (/allow?) Fox news on campus, so the only time I get to watch it is if I'm back in MA or NH.

I agree, and I like FNC from time to time, it's good to see a rounded side and perspective to every story. But to say that they weren't somewhat in the pocket of the Bush administration would be lying. I witnessed the propaganda they put out in large doses at the start of the Iraq war, and it made me a little disheartened...where was the journalism there?!???

haha this isn't even a fox article, its from the associated press. The conservative party line on hate crims is that they shouldn't exist. why should someone get preferential treatment if they are a different race or of a different sexual/religious orientation? It flies in the face of equality under the law. All crimes should be dealt equally. A "hate" crime runs contrary to everything that American law was founded upon. Should a crime where a white woman is gang raped and killed by a group of black men be treated any different than a crime where a black person is the victim? In my opinion, no. Both crimes are equally terrible. When you label something a hate crime, you give certain groups preferential treatment by law. That shouldnt happen. Is a crime where someone is killed because they are gay any different than a crime where someone is killed because they are straight? bad example, but NO. you get the picture, but most likely won't agree. All crimes should be treated equally, just like all peoples should be treated equally under the law.

again, im not trying to defend MSNBC here, it wouldnt surprise me if the obama admin did the same thing. but that doesnt make it news. watch it for entertainment if youd like. thats fine, but certainly dont take what they have to say at face value as "news"

Fox news along with every other right wing biased news network are owned by rupert murdoche. Fox is his biggest and most viewed window, they are completely arrogant to educating people of news storys they instead create false information by managing your perception of a story. They do this by retaining as much relevant information as possible, and releasing all of the information they want you to hear. This is how the powerful "champion" of a network appeals to so many people, and its the shit you want to hear. MSNBC is starting to follow the same criteriea of "entertainment" and i dont like it, however the interviews are intelligent and provide live information.

what kind of basic cable do you get? i get a whole plethora of news channels with basic cable. CNN PMSNBC CNBC. the one i dont get that i wished i got is Fox Business.


would that make the major networks ABC CBS and NBC the news channels of poor inbred degenerates who cant afford any sort of cable or satellite? (that was a joke, i didnt have any sort of cable up until age 10 because in my parents eyes there was better stuff to do besides watch the mindless drivel that is alot of TV, IE go outside and get dirty!

considering the media coverage michelle obama, a non-cabinet member, gets over Hillary, the Secretary of State (BWHAHAHHA) it is valid. Hell, Bill Clinton is more important to this admin than Hillary is. Look at the North Korean situation. Bubba went over Big-Hill's head on that one. News is ridiculous, it's all ratings driven so things are going to be skewed, worded, or exaggerated to increase those ratings. News is media, media needs ratings to draw advertisers so they can stay afloat.

Oh godddddd, NPR is terrible. Never been so bored listening to anything in my life. How do you stand that? Monotone, no humor? It's like doing a huge reading for a class, terrible. Then again, they can't really go out of business because they are given state money and university donations so they can continue to peddle their left-wing smack and attempt to curb the immense success of talk radio.

On that note, have you ever seen SNL make fun of NPR? they are spot on. One of my aunts and my uncle listen to NPR and have bumper stickers. It takes a certain kind of person to stand that shit.

I don't know about you, but I checked out on Delphi's comments once I saw his post about Fox being miles ahead of the competition and Glenn Beck being only "a bit over the top".

Hitler was only "a bit" naughty, too. Delphi has nothing to lose by subscribing to outlets like Fox and acting on their "news". The rest of us, who may be oppressed a little bit, or want to see improvement in this country, will find other ways of getting their news; sans the white-christian status quo.

Also, Olbermann says some pretty valid things on his show. He may seem like a bleeding heart to you, but his points are intelligent and always a step forward. (except when he's fighting Bill)

What the fuck are you talking about? Hitler has nothing to do with anything...If you have paid attention to anything, I don't watch fox here because my college doesn't get it. I rely on the wallstreet journal, various news magazines, and the web for my news. I watch FOX because I like Glenn Beck, Hannity, and Oreilly. It's not my only source of news. And if you think MSNBC is any better, you are severely naive. If you are going to make an argument, try and look at what has been said before so you don't look like a fool. And I'm not christian at all, but I am white. I have zero religious affiliations because I believe all religions are completely bullshit and cause way too many problems. But PLENTY of non-white, non christians watch Fox News. Way to take a vast generalization of the republican party and apply it to FOX.

I think Bill O'reilly is swell, haven't read his book though. It's been a national bestseller forever though. I did read Beck's "Arguing With Idiots." Great read.

It is news not a show, it is not for entertainment, it is for information.  There is no Bias unless they have guests on.  The reporters and anchors are extremely well read and intelligent.  The reports are in depth and extensive.  It is news, news might be boring, but it is the best source of non bias news out there.

I am sorry you lack the patience and intelligence to listen to NPR.

Let me be clear, talk radio is not news, it is opinion pieces.  I prefer to make my own opinions.  Cable "news" in general is probably 80/20 opinion to news.

If you want news, you don't turn to your tv these days, except maybe Bloomberg or the BBC. I'm just saying that watching people like Hannity and Beck, holy fucking shit they're offensive. Not just in a like "Oh no he didn't" offensive, but a like a "holy shit he's trying to undermine my entire existence" offensive.

I don't understand how in good conscience you could listen to that shit and enjoy it. Last time I heard Glenn Beck speak, he was talking about gays getting married ending the universe and legalizing incest, birthers being made conspiracy theorists by the media (and it's the media's fault), and how our governemnt is going to have complete control of our lives including our diets once the health care bill passes.

Hannity is just plain offensive. Also, much less articulate than Glenn Beck. I listen to Beck, but only because he's so far out there that you can't take him seriously. But some people do! and it's representative of a lot of republicans. They listen to this crap all day long - Savage, limbaugh, beck etc. and then they act on it in real life and it's killing the party.

you think NPR is unbiased? I am curious as to how you think it has gotten it's sparkling reputation as a bastion of left-wing ideologues. Last time I tuned in, I was driving home from Maine and I had to shut if off because some imbecile from the UN was spouting leftist bile and extolling the greatness of Ahmadinejad. The host was going right along with him. If you look at the money, if flows in from state governments and from universities, so they have to push some sort of agenda, either the state's or the universities, or both, and in New England, those tend to be left-wing agendas.

I have that problem with quoting too.  I had to switch to the fancy editor.

And I would have to disagree with the Bias.  But determining bias is a biased based action I guess.  I encourage you to try it out again.  I listen to http://cpr.org/.  Each local station can put on their own programing so I can't speak for all of NPR.  The national station with Steve Inskeep is extremely well done and I believe non bias.  Terry Gross is incredible at interviewing people, she always knows a tremendous amout about every topic and asks questions that I would never even think to ask with interesting results ever time.  Overall great programing and stories that would be hard to find anywhere else.

All of their funding, for KVDR at least, comes from listener members and local business.  A lot of the money comes from foundations started by millionaires and trusts.  A lot better than someone trying to sell a product.  There are no commercials and no ratings.  It is the purest form of free press, and they hold themselves to a very high standard.  You can get online and see where every penny came from and where it was used.  Try that at any other ratings based news network.  So you are incorrect on the funding.

If you still find it bias there is only one truth you must accept.  And it is that, as we all know, reality has a well know liberal bias.

and I just got the post thing again and I am in the fancy editor so IDK what the deal is.
