Skier sues lake louise

According to the calgary sun, Jeffrey david lowe of red deeer sued lake louise for 'improperly designing, building, and maintaining a jump in the terrain park,' they also built 'the jump in the terrain park when it was obvious that the same would represent an extreme hazard to the invitees on the premises.' He also blamed salomon for improperly designing his ski bindings which caused him to breakl his leg on the jump. Both of these claims are complete crap, but the regardless of all the facts pointing against these companies and to the kid, the kid will still probably getthe money like in the whistler case. Whats even worse is all he did was break his leg! He's suing $750,000 over breaking hisleg. Louise has been starting to put more money and effort into terrain parks and this is what they get. They got a temporary park up with some small jumps and the kid breaks his leg (on maybe a 25 foot jump with a nice lip and steep long landing) and sues, what does this tell them? I was hoping the whistler claim was an isolated incident but i guess we can expect more of these ridiculous claims, encouraging ski resorts to not build terrain parks. thanks buddy.

first of all, there's a disclaimer on the back of EVERY ticket, saying that by buying this ticket, the resort assumes no responsibility for your jackassery. Second, Salomon has an army of well paid lawyers to defend themselves against this kind of dumbass, so i doubt anything will come of this.

Don't sue the mountain because you suck. Deal with the consequences that go along with your actions. Chances are that if you're getting hurt, it's your fault. Don't be a bitch.

One thing though: You all know the disclaimer on the back of your lift ticket is absolutely 100% worthless right? It isn't worth shit as far as the law and, more importantly lawyers, are concerned.

$750,000 is a lot of money to sue for. that bastard. when u go to a resort, it should be a given that after u go in. ur pretty much agreeing to a contract that says that the resort is not responsible for anything that happens to you. even going off a,'badly built' jump. i bet it wasnt even bad. how the hell do u make a bad jump. it seemed everyone else tryin it was doin fine

the disclaimers are there for insurance purposes. it is impossible to abdicate responsability. i can't drive around with a sign on my car saying watch out and just drive into things without penalty. if the hill was at fault then they should have to pay. same with the manufacturer.

now hold on and don't jump on me just yet. i don't know the facts of the case nor do i know exactly why he is suing. perhaps his bindings broke instead of just not releasing, i've seen it happen. i'm not condoning his actions but take a step back for a sec and see what's relly going on first.

No, there is no possible way that either Salomon or Lake Louise are to blame. Of course it is his fault unlike the above guy may think. Even if his binding may have broke. Yeah it would suck, but it is not like Salomon intended on it being so. It is skiing and it happens. Unless someone at Lake Louise, literally tied him to a snowmobile and drug him off this jump, he has no reason to sue. Im guessing that didnt happen.

The dude is just trying to make a quick dollar. Hopefully he wont win and there is no way that he should, but if since this same sorta thing happened with the Whistler case, it sets a precedent. This may give the retard a good chance at also winning. I also feel that a good hard slap across the face would do this kid good.
