Good binding setting for mountain and park?

OK so whats good i think mine right now is like 8.5 or something but what would be good for all around.

Wow, what a great thread topic...why not just make a thread called 'hey everyone I'm an idiot' instead and stop wasting time?

You want me to find you a DIN setting without giving me your weight, height, and level of skiing ability as general background info, and then more specifically what you do on skis, how, etc? You've obviously never seen a DIN chart, so I recommend you get some Atomic team race stock bindings, and crank the DIN to 25. The plastic in your consumer stock boots deforms at between 14-16, so you should NEVER come out of your bindings, which is what you want right?

Tight enough so you don't eject on stupid shit. Loose enough so you don't break your goddamn knees. Depends on your weight, how hard you ski, etc. etc. If you're ejecting too much, crank it up; and if you break your goddamn knees, don't worry about adjusting the DINs because you won't be skiing for a while anyway.

go to ur local shop have them adjust them to u saying u are a type 3 skier and when u get home crank them up a LITTLE BIT if u ski park a lot

man, people need to chill. phaeded, just for reference. I am a good skier, weigh 190 and I set my din around 9 or 10 and it works pretty well. They only come off when I case a jump or take a bad mogul fall. maybe that will help

im 6'2 200. i set my din at 11. i ski pretty hard. i ripped out my toe piece twice last year, and broke 4 skis, 2 PEs and 2 skogens. should i lower my binding to stop breaking my stuff? or is it jsut weak.

^buy better skis. The pe's aren't bad, but the skogens we all know suck, cuz they're made by line. I suggest an Armada or next year's Atomic. But I haven't ridden Armadas so my opinion of them is based completely on advertising. They have kickass advertising.

Question about the DIN charts though. I know that basically you cross reference the Height/Abilty (I thought) them adjust to weight, correct? my question though, is that if your weight is disproportionate to your height on the DIN charts, that should call for a higher DIN setting, correct?

Most shops set my DIN's at 8, but I prefer to set my DINs higher (usually from 10-14 depending what I am doing), but basically how can I figure out what the DIN should actually be? I had one shop tell me that the charts are what they are set to unless your weight is disproportionatly low to your height, then they would lower the DIN, but said that the charts are not meant to go higher than the Height/Ability setting. Is this right, or just a shop covering their ass from lawsuits?

The size of your boots also has a lot to do with it. I wear 29.5s and they are huge boots giving me more leverage to snap out easier. shorter boots dont have quite the same leverage and are less likely to pop out.

yea i trust marker. most shop's charts are going to be a little low to cover their ass if you get hurt.

fuck marker! i have some comp 1400s on some old v-pros i got from pep and they sucks ass. If i try to go straigt for more than 30 feet down the top of the mountain and those bindings will completely shit out and explode after hitting the tinyest bump. they are not safe in my opinion and they only times that i have hurt myself have been because of a bad prerelease on marker bindings. Solomans and rossi/look bindings are the best from my measely 16 years of skiing experience.

personally, the only complaint that I have against Marker bindings is the top toe release. I know Atomic and most likely other companies are adopting this as well, but I think Atomic had the right idea with an option to disable (lock) the top toe release.

Personally, I have had no problems running Look/Rossi and have used them for a while. I have used many bindings and Look/Rossi just seems to always hold up and not pre-release on me, but it really is a matter of personal preference.
