How has skiing bettered you?

i was thinking about it during work today like skiing has;  messed up relationships, caused stress about money, affected my grades a bit, etc etc.

but its also helped shape who i am. like the falls ive had while skiing humble me and the successes reinforce that if i keep trying and focusing, etc. long enough i'll suceed eventually. kinda cheesey i guess or what ever but its just something ive been thinking about. im leaving for college in a few months and i guess im just thinking about how skiing fits into my life, its become more than just a fun thing to do on weekends.

how about you guys/gals how has skiing bettered you? how has it affected who you are?

im gone everyweekend so it kind of ruins my social life, but i guess i drink to much to start with so thats a good thing. It has helped me learn how to manage my money and spend it wisely. It keeps me in shape. and it makes me happy

skiing has helped me a lot. it is almost a way for me to express my emotions like if im upset i ski hard and feel better after, also if i feel good i get to chill and i just have a blast relaxing. It also does make me watch how i spend my money and its helped me make a lot of new friends. i sometimes wish i would hang out with kids where i live more but a lot of them i get enough of at school so im ok with it

haha thats all i have been workin on this whole season...


i would say skiing has made me more strong phisicaly and mentaly....skiing has taken controll of my life as well...i may not be as good as the pros but in my eyes i like where i am at..

I am way more positive now. After watching the kinds of things about positivity that Tanner has said and the way he lives his life, I have incorporated his attitudes about positivity and stuff like that and I feel better every day of my life because of it.

The thing is, that skiins has changed my mentality on things. Before I said if i cant do it fuck it, but now if i think i cant do it i say fuck it, and go for it anyways. If you falll or fuck up you fall or fuck up you'll get up and wlak it off. Also, skiing has taught me to be respectful and kind to all :).

well when winter comes around im nowhere to been seen. i lost a gf and missed parties and shit and mostly this year social life went down for the winter but its worth it all and im 13 so i got tons of time left anyways. plus my 3 best friends ski park with me and are good so is awesome and alot of people from my school and i kno ski alot to . also i have met a ton of new people. skiing has change my life, mostly this year.  there is nothing i would rather do

i dont do anything with friends who dont ski in the winter so i think that i have made better friends who ski because we understand each other and skiing has taught me that you dont have to be the star quarterback or star pitcher, you can be and  who you want to  be and  thats the sickest part of it

yup, same here.

But some more specific things. I made a bunch of new friends, lost a few, looking forward to something, dedication, passion, and where i live. I'm moving out of NY in 10 years or less. I dont care if im living on the sreets, im just not that interested in 60 degrees in February.

skiing has pretty much ruined my school social life cause im always gone on the weekends. but i have a ski social life now and i like them a lot better then the kids at school. and i can hand drag 3 now.

yea ive gotten less popular too but not too too bad i dont care i might go somewhere in skiing id rather have fun with people who are like me and be where i truly want to be.rather then sitting at the movies with my girlfriend when i could be skiing. plus there are plenty of hot chicks at my mtn and alot from my school so its all good.

skiing grows balls
go big or go home that kinda thing

ive met people skiing who go to my school that ive never talked to befor
honestly there is nothing else like it
skating you need to puch with your feet
wakeboard you get pulled behind a boat

skiing you use gravety to move and you make your own trail and do what you want
its enjoyable all the way from top to bottom
skiing makes my day

honestly as much as i love skiing... it probably made me a worse person lol

like I have noticed i claim stuff sometimes and I really hate claimers
I also noticed that it has made me a hater
I also notice it has made me jealous of other skiers skills

But...

It is fun and once I got passed the fact that I sucked, every trick i landed from there on out seemed that much better.

for sure. I'm definitely more of a social person now, I love life now so much more than I did before I got ridiculously into skiing. My grades haven't gone down too much, though. In fact, they're up this year.

hmmmm... well it was the reason for getting my first real job, it is both the source and destination of most of my income, it was through skiing that I got my first real girlfriend, it's influenced my style, my confidence in day to day situations, taught me how to focus, taught me how to relax, taught me how to wake up at 4:45am both saturday and sunday, taught me how to sacrafice... I guess you could say skiing defines me as a person, I dont even want to think about what I'd be like if I never skiied.

I ski at a mountain with  a 700 ft vertical. What  hasskiing done for me, made me thankful forthe  little  things, to make the best out of nothing. People come and hate on  a small mountain, obviosuly didnt grow up on one, i love my home mountain.  I have learned to make bad situations good, and how to push myself to achieve something, just a few weeks ago i got my first skiing sponsor, siked.

then again...gas money..lift ticket...food...losing some friennds...some gf's...not as social on ht weekends. fuck it
