the problem with this thread is that there are dozens of different "types" of techno and everyone has a different idea of what good techno is. Some people say darude - sandstorm is hot shit, but most people into more of the drum n bass stuff will call it crap. A good way to go is listen to some of the Digitally Imported branded shoutcast.com stations and see what you like.
Yhea Techno is such a wide term that this thread isn't going anywhere, there's Drum nbaas, trance, Goa, Psy, Acid, Hard Trance, Hardcore trance, electronic, danc, vocal etc...
Ya gotta find out what style you like before asking this.
Most of the world likes 'house', which is a form of electronica....its also a good gateway to electronica, cause there are house remixes of almost every genre....rap, pop, rock....etc
