Hey
People have post stuff about shit they saw on the lift in threads, but there is no thread for it all. So here it is. Post your lift stories, it can be anything at all. Heres mine.

I was going up the lift during night sking and it was dead silent because it was a pretty crappy night and no one was around. So I was sitting there by myself when all of a sudden I heard what soounded like a gun shot. I almost shat my pants. Turns out it was a tree that had been iced up by a snow gun and it couldn't take it anymore so it commited tree suicide and cracked off. Pretty cool.

Another time my friends and I were about to get on the lift and this guy flies by us and gets on the lift we were getting on. We didn't care and stopped and got the next one. So half way up the hill he lifts up the saftey bar thing and hurls himself off of the chair. He landed on his side and snapped a ski in the process. Then he picked it up and tried to ski off, but ski patrol caught time.

And there were a bunch of times when people have dropped shit off the lift of double ejected their skis some way, but thats really not a story.

the other day some dude(gaper) bites it hard on a flat box, he is leaning against the box and not getting out of the way, and then he took out a nalgene bottle and started drinking water, it was really random and i guess you had to have been there.

They were shooting for FHM at my home mountain. Off in the trees. The funny thing was that it was really easy to get to, me and my buddys were skiing along and came across it. Topless chick caring nothing but skis for protection. I offerd to keep her warm but she just laughed

one time when iwas young i dove head first into a tree and bounced off of it into the run and all the people one the lift above me got really worried and started to call ski patrol and thought i was crying

(this has nothing to do with being on the lift)

At the end of the day after shredding the gnar at Silver Star Mt. BC i went into the downstairs of the caffiteria to use the pay-phone to get picked up. I was dialing the numbers in when some jackass walks by this 4 friends and starts hitting numbers. So i became realy confused because i have never seen these kids before and they think its hilarious. when they walk away i phone for my ride. after i hang up i see them coming back again, and he throws is face foward and says, "WHAT!". I figured out he wanted to start some shit, so i stood up and and looked him in the eye and threw my gloves down, and I knock the sh*t out of him with one punch. his friends help him up and I casualy walk away and pick my gloves up and meet with my ride. I never saw the kid around anymore?

yep but this was getting on not off. I was getting on with my step brother and he was swinging his skis back and fourth. It had snowed a lot and they hadent shovled it away so when he swung them down once they got caught. His skis flexed and slingshoted him off the lift and into a face plant in 4 feet of of snow. As this happened he was reaching behing me to put down the bar so when he went he punched me in the back of the head and threw me off as well. I couldent get up for several minutes because of a combination of the deep snow and the fact that i couldent stop laughing.

me and my friend were skiin at some place in new york i forget the name, but its near ithaca. anyways we are getting off the lift and we put the bar up, somehow his jacket gets caught on the footrest, and the chair turns around and he goes with it, funniest thing in the world, people were speechless, i couldnt stop laughing.

we were JUST talking about what woul dhappen if you dont keep your tips up. we were so into the conversation that exact thing happened. my buddy got sucked right under and broke his nose on some nice eastern ice. theres always people poppin out of their bindings, and snowboarders doing up their bindings on the way up. one time my friend and i were with this little kid. my friend said he owned the hill and that his name was Christopher Cobble(the place is called cobble hills) the kid asked why he never grooms the pipe but grooms the rest of the hill. it was funny cause it was a big burn to the shitty hill and it left "christopher cobble" speechless.

haha...my snowboarder friends always get strapped in their bindings or whatever on the the way up.. it pisses off the racers and all those course guys with the 1200 dollar skis when there sitting next to him and his board edges are rubbing against theres as he tries to strap his foot in the binding

One time me and my friend were riding the sixpack at silverstar with this old snowboarder guy. When we went to raise the bar the guys foot was still on the bar to rest your skis on, and hes like 'AHHHH!', it freaked the shit outta me, and then he says, 'just kidding!'. When we got off the chair we were like wtf was that.

Saturday November 26, 2006 Silverstar mountain
I was riding up the 6pack and was watching a snowboarder straight line into a mountainbike jump from the summer. so im cheering him on but then he doesnt get any air off it at all. so me and the rest of the people taht saw it and cheering him on like he stomped some huge sh*t, then he just looks at the people at my chair and fingers us... what a bitch

This story kind of involves the lift well me and this random kid who skis named nick were ripping below the lift and i see him kinda of ollie but couldnt really see and next thign i know i get sack/ass poked by this tree thing and start rolling under the chair for a bit then i think im done so i put my ski down but then kinda lose my balance and go for another roll, and its really wierd falling under the chair cuz you never know if you should claim it and play it cool or just get the fuck outta there

I was skiing underneath the 6pack at silverstar yesterday and i was gonna hop over a fence and 180 it, instead i hooked my brake on it and tore the fence out and double ejected

So its me, my two pot head friends, and two 40 something year old ladies on the gondola at mt creek. The ladies are talking about there kids who are at the mountain skiing and all boring old people stuff. About half way up the mountain the lift stops. So my pot head friends se this as the perfect time to smoke some weed. They are nice pot heads and ask the 40 years old moms if they want some, and they did. So we smoked up with some 40 year old moms. it was great

A resorts proactive stance against all snowball throwers:

Several years back, I was out working and the entire day several others and I noticed a couple guys who were constantly throwing snowballs from the lift. Generally not tolerated, it wasn't given much attention until they happened to hit the lift ops director who was doing a little joyriding. Being a few chairs back, we noticed what happened and figured the kids passes were as good as gone. A minute or two later, the chair comes to a swinging stop... we were only halfway up the lift, hanging out and the perps a few chairs up were jeering and laughing at old guys and kids. After a moment, up the slope come several snowmobiles, with several employees. They stop a bit uphill and start pointing at the chair with the guys in it. About 6 resort employees proceed to pummel them with snowballs from below. They didn't stop for almost 3 minutes, at which point the riders, who looked to be about 15-16, were crying and pleading for them to stop. I might have just preferred to have my pass ripped...

i was goin up the left near the end of the season, so there was a giant puddle at the bottom. people were chillin, skimmin the puddle. so one guy goes (boarder) and catches his nose right at the edge of the puddle. flies face first into the freezing slush, then takes like an hour to get out of his bindings. that mustve sucked hard. lol

got my first contact high riding the whiteface gondola when some guys asked if my buddy and I minded if they smoked... thought they ment cigarettes cuz we were like 14... well they blazed one of the fattest longest joints Ive seen to this day, and 2 bowls on the ride up, windows open that fucker was still boxed like nuts, it was cool, saw our dads later that day, they just laughed.

One of my younger buddies riding up our local t-bar, one of our friends pushed him into one of the poles... he was wearing one of the oldschool black Jofa like bubble helmets, that made a gong sound, it was pretty funny.

Ive seen lots of carnage on my local t-bar and seen a ton of people biff it hardcore on lifts like mtn run chair at whitey, ppl get out of control and die (Ive done it too haha)

i ski at this tiny little mountain that stays open untill 10 everynight will full nightskiing, so one night i was going up the chairlift at probubly around 9, it was a very dark, cloudy night and it had just kinda of stopped raining/was threatening to agin, and was just in general a fairly crappy night, whe nall of a sudden all of the lights go out and the lift stops, there are only a few eople on the lift and its about 30-40 mins before it starts moving slowly agin, and about an hour before the light came back on, the lights came back on just before they were going ot send the groomer up to take everyone down. and it was a diesel backup that got us up the rest of the way, very very slowly

I was riding up on the chair lift with my buddy when suddenly someone started yelling below us. Some guy on ski blades was charging a wind lip and thought it would be a good idea to throw a front flip off it. He barely committed to the flip and rolled through the air and backfirst onto the hill. Lucky for him the slope was steep and there was still fresh snow.

me and my two buddies were riding up the quad at our hill adn my friends huge stack of lift tickest go stuck in between the seat and back and he went to get off, but couldnt the wicket ended up holding on and not breaking. He was pulled about 12 feet past where we get off hanging from his hip until the lift stopped.

it was funny ass shti!!

Some punk ass young snowboarders were screaming at people, spitting and throwing snowballs at people from the lift, me wearing my nice new white jacket, not happy. I was doing a run and I saw one of them, took my poles and had a swing at his knees, his kness buckle, stupid kid flips cartwheels down the hill
