I know lots of people do it, especially the euros. I've heard stories of people getting hit, and having fairly serious injuries from drunk skiers/boarders crashing into them. Intrawest sells shots of tequila at the Very top of blackcomb, with no way down but to ski out. Is this right? are they just a profit maximizing firm, and are justified to sell hard liqour at the top of the mountain where drunks have to ski out, in order to maximize their own profits? Or are they being hypocritical and proving their own "alpine responsibility code" wrong?
its ok to drink and ski, but a bit sketch to ski drunk. at lunch its reasonable to have a couple beers. and skiing stoned is ok, unless your badtripping.
nothing wrong with a couple of beers on the way down, but I get pretty mad when I see people skiing when they're drunk. Like I said in a thread in NSG I know someone who got pretty fucked up when some drunk dick skied into her.
i dunno man, skiing and drinking prolly shouldn't mix. If you can get charged with a DUI for skating drunk i don't see why they don't do it with skiing. If you were really serious about your skiing you wouldn't drink anyway right? At least that's my take on it. I def. think it's their corporate social responsibility to not sell alcohol and to respect their own skiing code for safety.
Yeah I don't really enjoy skiing drunk. I hit a guy while skiing switch, but we were both fine. The guy thought it was funny, but it was a wakeup call. I don't like the feeling of not having control.
There's nothing wrong with having a couple beers at lunch, but getting hammered and hitting up the hills is a pretty stupid idea, if you were drunk slammed into someone and killed them, you would be liable, could get sued, and could go to jail. Espically in the USA.
you're a flamer!!!!!!!!! there is nothing wrong with selling booze at the top of whistler...there would be something wrong if they didnt! you're an ASSHAT. you are obviously underage. what's wrong with being able to have a drink?? not everyone sits and gets so drunk they cant move...that's why there are bartenders...to regulate shit...gggad you're ridiculous.
I started skiing way better after I sobered up. On a lighter note I skied with Boyd Easley last year at Alpine and he was shroomin balls it was hella funny.
this is what i think, its the same thing as driving, if you drink don't do it
and skiing is such a great high in the 1st place, why lose the feeling (of sking) with boose ?
getting drunk on the mountain is part of what skiing. you just don't always get drunk and don't get black out drunk on the mountain. keep it in control and great times can be had.

There's a 2 drink limit at the summit of the local hill. I'd be willing to bet it's something similar at Whistler. 2 drinks for lightweights could still pose a problem, but most people who drink at the summit have a clue what's going on, and give themselves a little time to process the booze.
I know that I personally can have a beer or two and, given a little more than an hour will be good to go. The term "Drink Responsibly" is the key here.
drinking while skiing is one of the dumbest things you can do. Guy have been killed and crippled at our hill because of skiing while they were drunk.
no your limit, and don't be a hazard to yourself and others. It's almost like drinking and driving. When you're going 30+ mph standing on 2 planks, and you're motor skills are operating at 60%, theres a big danger.
just drink responsibly and save the hard drinking for after the day's over come on who's heard of a really good Ski bar party durring the day oh wait maybe in the spring time but thats a different story
Starting in January 2006 they'll be enforcing it like mad in tahoe. You're ok if you drink responsibly but still keep an eye out for ski patrol. Don't want to get slammed with an SUI
on the huts on the mountain where all the people come together during the afternoon: all those tourists that cant ski any longer than 3 hours in a row got to drink some beers and a few sausages. some of them get really tipsy. i mean, they cant ski good when they arent drunk, but when they are, its ridiculous. you see so much people falling around at the end of the day, ridiculous.
