I know lots of people do it, especially the euros. I've heard stories of people getting hit, and having fairly serious injuries from drunk skiers/boarders crashing into them. Intrawest sells shots of tequila at the Very top of blackcomb, with no way down but to ski out. Is this right? are they just a profit maximizing firm, and are justified to sell hard liqour at the top of the mountain where drunks have to ski out, in order to maximize their own profits? Or are they being hypocritical and proving their own "alpine responsibility code" wrong?
well you see, I worked there at the horstman hut. I didn't work there full time, just got re-scheduled there to work for 2 days, a few years ago. And one of those 2 days was a nice sunny warm day, and about 5 spider wearing 30 year old euro dudes came in and spent a good 500$, in american currency even though this is canada, on tequila shots (keep in mind they are like 7$ shots up there). They wre all completely hammered, and then all went skiing down the glacier. 2 or 3 shots each at the end of a good pow day is definitly ok, but this was like 12 in the afternoon. Who knows what those dudes got up to after that, but if some 30 year old spider wearing dude on 210 atomic betacarves crashed into me because he was drunk and I ended up with a torn ACL or something, I don't think I would be the "asshat" then.
Drinkin and riding is where its at, like to get stupid bombed or anything, but its part of the lifestyle. In our video were makin this year we already have a shot of me takin a quick 2 slammer outta a 40 while jibbin this rail in my bck yard
Drinking and skiing is cool and all, I dont do it and if some wasted frenchman were to come and bust my leg with his drunken ass some shit would hit the fan.
everyone who thinks drinking and skiing dont go together should die.....i have had my pass pull twice for "being too drunk to ski" haha fuck i love booze and i love skiing and I mix them hard and fast
i should also add that I am completely against drunk skiing. And smoking pot and skiing. yes, i think there is some hyprocrasy for ski resorts to serve so much alcohol and then demand ppl to abide by the skier rules of ethics.
there's a difference between drinking and getting drunk. the people at the top of whistler aren't getting shitfaced. they're not being served to the point of extreme intoxication.
