I bought a pair of Line 1260's and when I used them the other day they felt heavy and hard to jump and turn in a 180 but this is my first time skiing i switched from skateboarding to skiing and i can already ride and stop with my right foot crossing over. My question is, are skiis suppose to feel heavy at first or are they just lighter when you go off a jump. Thanks.
If you're crossing over from skateboarding and you've never skied before, the ski's are definitely going to feel heavy.
Between the boots bindings and skis you're strapping close to 15 lbs to each foot. If you weigh around 150, that's 20% of your body weight.
Once you get used to carving, etc...you wont feel the weight of the skis as much anymore, once your edging gets good, the skis almost feel like they propel you.
In terms of jumps...just work up to the big stuff. When you get into rotations, think more about spinning your head/body than your feet.
It's all good, you'll love it after a few times on the slopes. Welcome to skiing, pretty soon skating will just be to kill time in between ski seasons, haha.
