Here is another tidbit to chew on.

The general myth is that conservative/republicans don’t like black (and poor) people, they apparently don’t care about minority groups. This myth also implies that liberal/democrats are much more in touch with African Americans, they have there interests at heart.

Naturally, most AA’s usually vote democrat. Take the city of Detroit for example, it has a large black community and the majority of politicians in the city office are democrats...its been this way for decades.

It makes sense doesn’t it? Democrats are more in touch and promise to fight for you in the government.

...so why hasn’t the general standard of living among African Americans improved? Detroit is a shithole and most predominantly black neighborhoods in the country are still poor. Seriously, could you tell the difference between East St. Louis in 1970 and 2005? Not really. Its still rampant with poverty, gangs, drugs, and high crime.

Are they shooting themselves in the foot?

The fact that Limbaugh is a “douche� is completely irrelevant. Football is also beside the point dumbass. Its about a double standard of race. Rush made some comments about the media’s treatment of McNabb because of his race, he gets ragged on by the NFL and a ton of other people. West accuses Bush of being racist, he gets little negative reactions from the media and the NFL hasn’t changed their mind about having this classless person preform at the Kickoff concert.

So its unacceptable for Limbaugh to accuse a group of being racist, but its okay if West does the same thing (much less tactful I might add)?

1) Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice. what are they, fuckin Norwegian?
2) Republicans HAVE TO care about black people, because if they dont, they'll never get elected again.

you were saying that it was suprising that kanye was still playin' the football game even though he said what he said. so a) he voiced his opinion, he shouldn't be punished monetarily for it. b) much of the media that you say doesn't care about what kanye said has reacted negatively to it. so c) fuck off.

now i see you're point of accusing someone of being racist existing in the same place, but what the difference was that kanye's statement wasn't neccisarily considered racist or stereotypical, whereas limbaugh's comment -- being that most qb's in the nfl are white -- could be considered stereotypical.

and as for the detroit comment, if detroit residents start voting for republicans, detroit is gonna change from the shithole that it is to a well-kept, higher standard of living city, right? no matter who's in office detroit's gonna be a shithole. unless a republican candidate makes it one of their forefront platforms to fix up the large, run-down cities, i don't see how it's "shooting themselves in the foot" if the people of detroit vote democrat.

1) Frankly, yes I am surprised. I wonder what the NFL is trying to convey as a public image. Personally, I think it reflects rather poorly. They have decided to have a now very controversial person that only a week ago managed to piss off a lot of people to preform on national TV? It makes me wonder what market they care about.

2) Stereotypes? Kanye totally played the race card. Watch the video, “Those are my people down there.� There is just no consistency in how this crap is treated. Stereotypes shouldn’t even matter anyway, its tasteless no matter how you look at it, Limbaugh included.

3) I wasn’t implying how people should vote. I was just making an observation. Hell, as far as we know Detroit would still be a shithole if it was generally run by Republican politicians. There really is no way of knowing. I was just pointing out an interesting quirk of many poor minority communities.

Besides, it’s not really what West said that irritates me, it’s where he said it. Wrong place, Wrong time, totally inappropriate. He is a classless buffoon thats just riding the wave of fame.
