WHISTLER, BC, April 18, 2005 – With seven weeks to go for the rest of the season, Whistler Blackcomb is enjoying epic spring snow conditions after a winter snow pack that was less so. The resort has received over three metres (10.5 feet) of snow since mid-March. April has seen 193cm (6.5 feet) of snowfall to date, just shy of 2003’s record April snowfall of 194cm. The forecast for the remainder of the week is calling for sunny skies and warm temperatures. Whistler Mountain is open daily until June 5.

“This is one situation where I’m happy to eat my words after calling this season’s snowfall the worst in Whistler Blackcomb’s history earlier this year, says Doug Forseth, Senior Vice President Operations. “The past four weeks have delivered the consistent snowfalls that Whistler Blackcomb is used to receiving, including 42cm (16.5 inches) over the past weekend. Snow conditions are the best they’ve been all winter and we’ve still got seven weeks of skiing and riding to go.

Hotel and restaurant deals throughout Whistler Village are in abundance at this time of the year and rooms are available from $99 CAD ($79 USD) per night. The après scene is also in full swing as days are long and sunny afternoons are plentiful. The Garibaldi Lift Company is open daily at the base of Whistler Mountain.

“With 3,200 acres on Whistler Mountain still to enjoy, it’s not yet time to put away the boards, says Forseth. “Our crews continue to work hard to deliver exceptional spring conditions each and every day. The terrain park on Whistler will be open for the remainder of the season, plus season passholders can still take advantage of 50% off food on-mountain.

A record number of regional skiers and riders are taking advantage of great spring deals to ski/ride Whistler Blackcomb for the remainder of this season and the next. The frequent skier/rider Edge Card sales for the 05/06 season are up 52% to date over last year, with the renewal campaign continuing until April 30.

Blackcomb summer glacier camps and public skiing/riding will kick off June 11.

Whistler Mountain remains open for skiing and riding from 9am to 4pm until June 5. Blackcomb Mountain closed for the season April 17 with the final day of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival. The Creekside base closed for the season April 17 and access to Whistler Mountain is via the Whistler Village Gondola only.
