WHISTLER BLACKCOMB MOVES PASS-A-MANIA COMPETITION TO EVE OF BLACKCOMB’S OPENING, NOVEMBER 25

Due to Whistler Mountain’s early opening, 20 finalists will compete for two season passes and a chance to head up the Wizard Chair first on Blackcomb’s Opening Day.

WHISTLER, BC, Friday, November 13, 2009 – Whistler Mountain’s early opening this Saturday has prompted the decision to run Whistler Blackcomb’s Pass-A-Mania Opening Day Competition on Wednesday, November 25, the day before Blackcomb Mountain opens.

The response to Pass-A-Mania was outstanding, and today, Whistler Blackcomb randomly selected 10 male and 10 female finalists to compete for the two season passes; those selected will be notified by end-of-day today. Meanwhile, the 24-hour battle of wits and attrition through more than 15 epic challenges will kick off at 8am on Wednesday, November 25 and will run for 24 hours. At the end of Pass-A-Mania, the female and the male with the most points will be awarded the season passes and the chance to ride up the Wizard Chair to access Blackcomb Mountain in all of its snowy glory first.

Whistler Blackcomb’s partners including Red Bull, Quiksilver, Nintendo and Nature’s Path will be joined by friends Voleurz, Sandbox and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler to present challenges and contribute prizing throughout Pass-A-Mania, ensuring the competitors remain energized, stoked and rewarded for the entire 24 hour duration.

When not competing in challenges, participants will be confined to a PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola Sky Cabin stationed at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. With 20 people in such close proximity for 24 hours, will love blossom? Will pet peeves be ignited? Will our competitors succumb to the dreaded lack of sleep? You’ll want to head over to Blackcomb Mountain’s base on Opening Day to find out.
