After shooting 8 weddings and 3 engagements in 5 weeks, it was time for some much needed R&R!  Don’t get me wrong I love shooting couples in love, but this was a chance to go back home where I grew up in Canada.  My girlfriend Shanthi had never been to this wonderful country or met my parents, so now was the perfect time since we had just celebrated 2 years of dating on July 17th!  Her good friend and roommate Emily also came along with us because she loves Canada and has a little time off before starting her new job in August…

We drove all day Saturday, spent the night in Bozeman Montana then left early the next morning for Banff Alberta.  Driving through Kananaskis Country north of Glacier National Park we came across tons of mountain sheep.

They think they own the road and most motorists don’t mind slowing down and taking photos…

After stopping in Banff to catch up with some friends, we headed north on the Icefields Parkway towards Jasper.  Plentiful wildlife, this is the 2nd black bear we spotted near the road.

I got out of the car and shot from a distance while he was searching for wild blueberries… which prompted sticking out his tongue at me I suppose;)

Then he decided to charge me… just kidding, the other side of this little ravine looked more promising…

Towards sunset the clouds made beautiful formations and the mountains provided this stunning backdrop!
