WINNER: SIVER VOLL

________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to the first Style Showdown of the '16/'17 season. We'll be posting one showdown per week throughout the winter, so stay tuned. If you’re unfamiliar with Style Showdown, here’s how it works:

• Every week, my fellow content team members and I choose two videos posted in the NS videos section.

• We drop a showdown between two skiers. You vote for your favorite skier, and the winner gets bragging rights.

Without further ado, up first is The Hood Crew's very own Alec Nelson. The 23 year old Wisconsin native now resides in Salt Lake City, and is finishing up two undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Sculpture. When I spoke to Alec, he told me that he draws inspiration from the legend Matt Heffernan in his style, and likes to catch people off guard with his skiing. This edit is totally unpredictable and thoroughly enjoyable, but it's produced by The Hood Crew, so that goes without saying. Expect plenty of weird shit in his segment this year.

Best trick: :51 - :55.

Up next is Siver Voll, hailing from Geilo, Norway. Siver started freeskiing 8 years ago, and made it to finals in Superunkown XIII. His rail game is technical, his jump style is effortless, and shot after shot in this edit is an absolute banger. If you like his style, check out Siver's brand new monthly video series, Los Niños.

Best trick: 2:34 - 2:38
