SUZUKI New School Pick Nick 2008, Weltcup Arena Zauchensee and Altenmarkt, 21.03.2008 – 22.03.2008 An enthusiastic audience, a perfect setup, and some of the world`s best freeskiers made for an incredible competition at the third annual Suzuki New School Picknick on Saturday, March 22nd. Everyone lucky enough to be in Zauchensee that evening, saw an impressive performance from all the invited riders. Winner and therefore new owner of a brandnew Suzuki Jimny is Sweden`s shootingstar Oscar Scherlin. Saturday, March 22nd saw the best twin-tip riders in the world gathered in the Worldcup Arena Zauchensee to separate the champions from the pretenders in Austria's most important big-air competition, the Suzuki New School Picknick. The kicker had a spectacular three-meter takeoff, and launched riders to jumps up to seven meters high and more than 20 meters in length. But such is the norm for the elite of the elite, and the setup promised the enthusiastic audience the best freestyle show that Zauchensee has seen. The unbelievable airtime of this jump gave the riders the possibility to make some of the most technical and stylish tricks possible. Aside from the good mood and the nice show, which made it quite comfortable for the audience to be outside spectating the contest, Oscar Scherlin gave the crowd the performance of a lifetime. After riding solid on top through the qualification and semifinal rounds, he won the superfinals with a clean and stylish switch 1080 mutegrab. After the Red Bull Playstreets he dominated the second big freeski - event in a row and can now go home with a brand new Suzuki Jimny. Roy Kittler from Germany broke through the phallanx of scandinavian riders being on top and got second. Henrik Harlaut from Sweden got third, Kalle Leinonen from Finnland ended up fourth. The best Austrian competitor was Martin Misof on the seventh place. Competitors and fans alike mingled at the after-contest party held by the Fm4 – Club in Altenmarkt's Lauderbachstadl, enjoying the live performance of DJ Phekt (Shakewell Sound/Radio FM4) und DJ Chris Fader (Austrian ITF Champion), who made countless people dance until the early morning hours.
