Words: Cortney.Germain Photos: Julie WeinbergerShane Nelson, C.R. Johnson, and Tanner Hall teamed up this year, mixing the best of both worlds (skiing and snowboarding) in their new flick, Pop Yer Bottlez. Riders included C.R. Johnson, Tanner Hall, Tanner Rainville, Chris Biollo, Kye Peterson, and Cal and Sean Petit. The doors of the Flatirons Theatre opened at 7:30 PM to a jumbled line of crazed skiers waiting to get into the movie, and trying to catch a glimpse of someone with a big name. Before the premier, Tanner Hall and C.R. were holding it down at the local Jibij Pro Shop, singing autographs and hanging out with fans. After the Jibij visit, the pros headed over to Flatirons to kick off the premiere with free schwag to anyone who could jump high enough. From there, Pop Yer Bottlez went off without a hitch. Notable shots included C.R. dropping threes both ways off a 70-foot cliff in Sonora, California and charging down powder pillows in the backcountry. Tanner’s switch nine on Chad’s Gap, before his legendary crash –and- burn- ankle- breaking segment, sent the audience into repetitive ooohs and awws. Also, Kye Peterson killed it. And when I say killed it, I mean that even though he is 14, I was totally turned on by his segment. Spinning a seven off Pyramid Gap, dropping cliffs, and ripping through pow in his neon green snow pants, he was nothing short of a rock star. Watch out for emerging skiers Cal and Sean Petit, brothers with a fancy for jibbing. The snowboarding seg featured some of the notorious ‘C-Crew’ members sliding rails, dropping, and cruising through powder. The flick definitely left everyone with snowflakes dancing in their heads, kind of like the graphic overlay of Rainville’s rufie segment. Mmm rufies. But seriously, it is worth all of your while to check out Pop Yer Bottlez and get your stoke on.
