Third Time Lucky! Perisher Blue gets another early winter coat. For the third time this year, Perisher Blue has received an early white winter coat after 10-15cm of fresh snow fell in the resort from about 11am yesterday and continuing throughout the night. Temperatures reached a low of –3.5ï‚°C at 7.45am this morning and the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting snow showers to continue throughout the day. According to Perisher Blue Snowmaking Manager John Palmer who was in the resort yesterday when the snow started to fall, “The majority of the snow fell yesterday and now the wind has crept up and it is blowing it about a bit.”Again this early snowfall is excellent news for the resort, which is in its final stages of completing the $9.75M snowmaking development for 2008. The 34 new automated Techno Alpin snow guns have now been installed up to Mid Station of the Forester Express Chairlift and snowmaking is set to commence in mid-May when the weather conditions for snowmaking are generally optimal. With just two days to go until the Early Bird Season Pass offer closes (on 30 April 2008), it is also a great time to secure a Season Pass. Prices are frozen at 2007 prices so that adults can save $140 off the price of a regular Season Pass (children save $77) and also receive a 10% discount at Perisher Blue owned food and beverage outlets and 20% off at Perisher Blue owned retail outlets including Slopestyle and Addiction throughout the season (min. $50 purchase). Early Bird Season Passes can be purchased online at http://www.perisherblue.com.au/winter/prices/season.html
