Freeskiing athletes from around the globe will be making their way to the final stop The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series (PPOS) at Waverville Valley, New Hampshire, March 8-11, 2012. Originally slated to host Halfpipe and Slopestyle competitions, The North Face PPOS is switching up the format at this stop to ensure the highest standard event. With a $20,000 prize purse up for grabs, the event will include two days of Slopestyle competition, capped off with a nighttime Big Air contest on Saturday.

“Waterville Valley is extremely excited to hold an AFP Big Air contest at night. There are no other skiing Big Air events on the East Coast especially for amateurs and we are proud to have it in our award winning Exhibition Terrain Park. Working with The North Face to hold this event for a second year is an honor and pleasure. We look forward to seeing some great skiing and progression here at Waterville,” said Jamie Cobbett, Waterville Valley Event Planner.

“For the second year in a row The North Face PPOS brings the best open slopestyle competition to Waterville Valley. After last years competition I overheard a rider say there has never been so many doubles thrown in one comp on the east coast. This event is a key stop on the AFP World Tour calendar and it opens doors for skiers on both ends of North America,” said Steele Spence, Head Judge and General Manager, Association of Freeskiing Professionals.
