To some degree, we all have a love/hate relationship with social media, Newschoolers more than most. But there's no questioning its importance to the ski industry right now. Never has that been more apparent than 2020, when most of us have spent at least some of the year stuck at home, endlessly scrolling for days on end. So we figured, what the hell, we'll join the recap party and drop a list of the 10 most viewed clips on the NS 'gram, just to see what they were as much as anything.

Our conclusion? We still don't totally understand social media but this list is a mishmash of clickbait tricks, crazy spots and crashes... and then weirdly, one example of simply pure style. Without further ado, here are the 10 clips you weirdos watched the most in 2020:

10. Samuel Alander - Superman Double Frontflip

Ok, this one tracks. The trick that won the first and only public voted X Games big air is a shoo-in to do well on social media, and this is as good as they come.

9. Henrik Harlaut - Griselda flip at X Games

Three things that do well on social. Butters. X Games. Henrik Harlaut. Bingo.

8. Hyland hills kids sending and eating shit.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9FAMvolrqc/?igshid=9lyjxezeyz94

Everyone loves a good crash, and this clip has a lemming-like quality to it. Lemmings, of course, don't actually follow each other to their deaths as is the commonly held belief, but these kids certainly do.

7. Forster Meeks x Brighton Patio

https://www.instagram.com/p/B_saVxXFhwj/?igshid=130yatd5a19g4

Forster Meeks is one of skiing's unsung heroes and this may be the least gnarly thing he's ever done on skis. But it certainly stacked those views on IG. Stoked to see whatever ultimately came of this spot if there's more.

6. Sam Kuch - Dub 10 into Corbet's

https://www.instagram.com/p/B8ejQMBFRN8/?igshid=16kbsnltjqyrw

Famous spot x gnarliest trick. It's a classic combo and despite being on every ski gram in the game, this one still made the NS top 10.

5. GG's first dub 10

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9hmprWl4Uw/?igshid=rcf7ns1i7wlq

Kids doing stunts, a surefire winner on the 'gram. We aren't huge fans of the 'ol age claim but you can easily imagine this kid stood on the top step of a podium with the competitions looming over him from the lower steps. One to watch out for.

4. Antti Ollila - Ruka Gap

https://www.instagram.com/p/CJEyBn_hRlz/?igshid=125w2w84ftlq9

Apparently style can still win in the IG world. We're as surprised as you are to find this so high up the list. Sure, it's dope AF but by and large, it's not the kind of clip to trend on social. We'll chalk it up as a win and credit Antti for having arguably the best style in the game.

3. Jesper Tjader - Sw dub backie from the knuckle

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9ciRo1lHQu/?igshid=15ameyps4yir4

Double backflip! Doing the switch! From the knuckle! Jesper is basically viral clip machine and this is no exception.

2. Parker White Yardsale

https://www.instagram.com/p/CAF7TpiFhtS/?igshid=1xiofy16kdzm5

But ultimately there's nothing people like to see more than a good crash. And this yardsale is one of the most 'holy shit' crashes we've seen in a minute. We're pretty surprised this isn't number one on the list but your winner, if you can call it that, is...

1. Harald Hellström - Thread the needle crash

https://www.instagram.com/p/CIOBsnjDiZg/?igshid=a5bcs8ndyjdt

This spot is just insane. And the crash, well, you'd think this was a one-and-done kind of spot but if you've seen Forrigve you'll know it's not. Harald is definitely one to watch, so keep your eyes peeled for him blowing up in 2021. Happy New Year!
