The Newschoolers Awards are back for 2024, presented by Swany, @ON3P & @Windells . Celebrating the best of what went down in 2023, we're rewarding everything from the best single tricks to the most insane ski movies. For this year, we wanted to put a strong focus on what we collectively have a passion for: heavy film skiing in the streets and backcountry, as well as giving back to the community. That's always been the focus for the NS Awards, far more strongly than video editing, big budget production, comp results, or social media (in)fame(y) but this year we wanted to double down on that in our decision making.
2023 saw an onslaught of content, with more movies than I can ever remember. There are certainly many beautifully presented movies, insanely talented competition skiers and skiers who have undeniably made an impact via social channels who haven't made this list. All of those things have a place, but we wanted to reward those who are pushing raw skiing in what we believe to be a positive direction. Myself ( @Twig ) and @curt_ were joined by LJ Strenio, Alex Hackel & Xavier Mayrand in the booth. With a heavy year, particularly in the streets, we wanted to lean on the expertise they bring when it comes to picking apart the skiing on offer. From an incredibly lengthy longlist, we went down to a shortlist and then finally this. Check out all the nominees below and feel free to tell us how wrong we are. It won't change anything, but it might make you feel better... you never know.
