This year, with the awards going fully virtual (shout out to Swany Gloves @ON3P & @Windells for making these awards possible), we are taking the opportunity to shed some clarity on what each award means, and the judging process. Trick of the Year is voted by you guys, so no judging was required but even pulling together the shortlist brings about a lot of head scratching.

The last of our nominee based awards, Male Skier of the Year is tough every time. Our panel had to really break this one down and look at more than a single part or a single aspect of skiing. Keegan Kilbride & Joel Magnusson absolutely crushed it in the streets. Between them, they probably could have filled our Trick Of The Year list without the need to turn to anyone else. Then we have the Magma boys, Hunter Hess and Alex Hall. Magma 3 was insane, they both racked up two full parts worth of shots, doing it all from street to backcountry... and they competed all year. How do you top that?

Well, it's tough, but apparently, you just have to be Colby Stevenson. Colby crushed the comp circuit, winning X Games slopestyle, and podiuming throughout the season. Then it turned out that he was simultaneously filming an absolutely insane big mountain part, along with backcountry jump bangers galore. His ender segment in Good Company's Crescendo had to be the most surprising part of the year... did you have Colby Stevenson crushes Alaskan Spines on your bingo card? What he achieved in a single season will be hard for anyone to match going forward. And so, of course, Colby is our Male Skier of the Year.
