MAMMOTH BRINGS SNOW TO LA FOR USC SNOW FEST

Mammoth Mountain, CA -

Mammoth Mountain and the University of Southern California  (USC) Ski and

Snowboard Team brought snow to downtown Los Angeles yesterday for the first

ever Snow Fest, held on the USC campus. Snow Fest is a winter ski and snowboard

exposition featuring an open rail jam and product giveaways for Southern California college students.

Mammoth Unbound Terrain

Parks brought the mountains to the city by trucking in tons of snow and setting

up a sharkfin box and a flat box. The open rail jam was judged by Zach Leach,

as well as Mammoth riders Molly Aguirre and Gabe Taylor. Props to contest

winner Dominic, USC student Kevin Chang, SnowDog and the sole female skier,

dubbed Miss Consistency.

Industry companies passing

out promo product and prizes for the contest winners included Nikita, Dragon,

Forum, Skullcandy, Quiksilver and Thirty-two. DJ Jacques provided beats all day

from a shady spot, trying his best to aim the speakers away from the math class

in the building next door. As the event got underway in McCarthy Quad the sun

beat down so strongly it was hard to remember ski season has already begun.

However once skiers and snowboarders hiked the 40-foot scaffolding and strapped

in it was clear that there are plenty of local college shredders who are more

than ready to jump start the winter season.
