The Legs of Steel Sketchfest returned to the world-famous Stubai Zoo snowpark last Saturday, April 15th for a pro/am battle to win the cash prize of €3000!

Five teams went head-to-head in three events; The Volta Maria presented by Marker, (a ski touring race up and back down Stubai Zoo), Spin to win presented by Prime Park Sessions, and Jump Rail World Championships presented by Völkl. Also at the Jump Rail World Championships, a jam session was held where skiers could enter to win a wild card spot at next week’s Swatch Nines.

The Volta Maria presented by Marker

Hannes Sullmann (team OGT) took the honor of being the fastest skier on the day making it to the summit in less than 8 minutes and descending while hitting the snow park’s pro line kickers! Sullmann was closely followed by Pascal Runggaldier finishing in second place for team Gummetotscha. Ole Pavel of team Sieg oder Akia rounded out the podium being the fastest of the remaining teams who opted to boot-pack the steeper segments of the course.

Spin to Win presented by Prime Park Sessions

Team Sieg oder Akia topped the rankings stomping a 900 from Pavel, cork 1080 cuban from Viktor Moosmann, and double cork 1260 by Lukas Schlickenrieder on their one and only competition run, they were really living up to their team name! Rank from the rest of the field was staggered by only half a rotation down to 4th place. The 2nd place team T+P+L stomped a switch 900 and two switch 1080s in quick succession.

Jump Rail World Championships presented by Völkl

Teams look to the final event to decide their fate, with a jam session lasting well over an hour. Each team laid down a solid performance throughout the jam along with some solo competitors that entered for the chance to win the wild card for Swatch Nines. Some notable highlights include: B810 cuban out the rail & switch 2 on back 9 out the post box from Schlickenrieder, Moosmann with a switch-on-front-6-out featuring a nose press, Lucas Romain laid out some huge front cork 630 dub japans, and solo competitors Joel Liimataninen with a massive dub front out and Aleksi Patja with an ultra-smooth backslide back 450 nose tap and separate hand drag.
