This weekend at Thompson Rivers Univeristy in Kamloops a very special snowsports event took place. A rail jam on one of the iconic rails outside the Old Library on campus. This event comes from the mind of Tourism Management student and passionate shredder Justin Tarasoff and has been percolating since February. As part of a project, Justin pulled together this quite incredible event.

This curvy DFD is an interesting street spot - with a slight right-to-left curve on the first down and a left-to-right C on the final down - and has been hit by students at TRU many times in the past. However, with a high bust factor, a session like this hasn't been able to go down like this before. And, before the 'Core Police' come out of the woodwork, the stairs remained unshovelled due to the risk management aspect of this being a school project... call it a park feature if you want. IDGAF this shit was sick! With the help of local sponsors, snow from the ice rinks and a few waivers this spectacle was able to go down and that's what really matters.

A crew of local riders from both the ski and board community came to throw down on this double kink. And, crowd which peaked at over 350 turned out on Friday night to witness the chaos. This early in the season, before a lot of hills in North America have even opened, it was great to see 20 or so riders step up to entertain on a gnarly rail and throw down.

Some of the highlights included Atley O'Neil lacing a noses-under 2 on that he battled all night, 16-year-old Gabby Dinn of team BC greasing the rail to the end - almost lacing a front 2 out later in the night and Tate Gaarrod lacing a front 3 swap to regs on the final kink. Justin Tarasoff, event organizer also laced his dream trick on the rail a 2 to switch which I unfortunately didn't clip up. Finn Brennan did however and you can see his recap of the event here.

I took the trusty HVX 200 - AKA Big Chonus AKA The Guy She Told You Not To Worry About - to the event and captured what I could of the hectic event and you can catch that down below! hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed being there!

See you next year Kamloops!
