Unmarked makes an entrance at Jamboree presented by Vidéotron

New concept for video contest on fringe of World Cup action

Quebec City, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 – The Jamboree ski and snowboard video contest formerly known as the Stairsmasters has been given a facelift and is now Unmarked presented by Vidéotron, an online contest with a focus on backcountry adventure and powder instead of urban action. No fewer than four crews of snowboarders and four crews of skiers are venturing off the beaten path to showcase some of the best terrain Quebec has to offer. The videos of their adventures will be revealed in early March via the Jamboree social media channels, and the audience’s favourites will be crowned the winners! All eight videos will also be shown on the night of the World Cup Finals on Saturday, March 24.

“We want the crews we’ve invited to really get out there and discover and explore this beautiful province of ours,” explains snowboard video scout Alex Cantin. “We’re challenging them to find the sweetest powder in Quebec!” Meanwhile, renowned freeskier JF Houle landed the challenging task of cherry-picking crews to submit ski videos. Both scouts searched high and low to scope out the most dedicated homegrown ski and snowboard talent for this inaugural Unmarked contest. The lucky entrants hail from all over Quebec, namely the Laurentian Mountains (Fresh Air – snowboard), the Saguenay (Les Ghosts – snowboard), Mont-Sainte-Anne (Épicurien de la glisse – snowboard), greater Montreal area (Les gars de l’Estrie – snowboard), Quebec City (Les Khroniques du Québec – snowboard and Les Animaux – ski), Eastern Quebec (The Loners – ski) and the Gaspé Pensinsula (Touring – ski).

Audience's picks

All will be revealed online in early March on the Jamboree website and social media channels, when the public get the chance to vote for their favourite ski and snowboard video and decide the winners. And that's not all: fans of Unmarked can also keep an eye on the Jamboree social media channels for a sneak peek at some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. The winners get to share a total of $4,000 in prize money, including the Videotron Top Pick with a $1,000 prize for the best video and storyline. All entrants get to see their videos broadcast across the Illico network too!
