Newschoolers' Review:

I rode the 4FRNT Devastator (184cm) this past spring at Alta shredding slushy, spring groomer laps as well as some fresh pow (~5 inches) doing my best to be Thayne Rich in the process; aka going massive off of natural hits & speeding like a bat out of hell.

As a pretty big dude (6’2 200lbs), I thought the softness of the ski would be terrifying when mobbing on groomers in terms of chatter but the 4FRNT “VIBEVAIL” technology seemed to do it’s job of reducing chatter. In soft, spring slush & pow I found the ski to be very playful. The large amount of rocker kept the tips from diving and made buttering easier. Whether I took the Devastators in the trees of Westward Ho off Wildcat lift or to the moguls off Collins, their maneuverability was primetime.

On the flipside, the Devastator’s recommended mount position of -5.3 from center is great for ripping around but trying to do tail presses I felt myself slipping out fairly often. If you’re more of a jibby type skier, I would suggest mounting at -3 or -2 from center. Overall, I am confident in saying the Devastator would be a viable “one ski quiver” for those who only want to get single pair of skis this winter. - Matt
