wasatch_ratNever worked for one of the lodges but worked at a ski shop at alta for many years and have had a lot of friends who worked for different lodges including the Alta lodge. You won't exactly be isolated, alta is a small town but it is still a town with a vibrant community. You'll be in dorm style housing with at least 1 roommate. Since this is probably your first time living away from home I'll just say to be a good roommate, don't be a slob or an asshole. Its a small town that can be pretty clicky so people will quickly decide if you are cool or not, if people like you it will be an awesome group of fun ski bums, if they don't like you then you can feel pretty lonely. There will be plenty to do as far as partying with coworkers but know your limits. Nobody likes the guy that puked/pissed in the dorm or was too hungover to work. Between skiing, work and partying, you will be exhausted pretty much all the time, but that's the life you are signing up for and it does have a ton of benefits. Some of the best skiers in the world ride there, so be smart with your decision making when it comes to how hard you are riding, particularly early season. Can't tell you how many kids I've seen that are way too stoked to ride early season, they follow someone way better than them around, and get injured landing on a rock or trying something way outside of their ability. Treat yourself and those around you with respect, do your job well, don't get injured early season when you are still learning the mountain and the snowpack, and you will have a blast.
hb_lazUpdate. I got the job at Rustler Lodge busting tables and food running. I think I’m going to take it. Thanks for all of the advice. I’ll keep updates about my experience, so that in the future if people are interested then they will have some reference.
WoFlowzget urself a fake id bro
joogIn all seriousness be careful using a fake, Rustler bartenders will know your age, people that work in the Cafe will get to know you and know your age, and they scan IDs at the dog. Small town, buy 1 million pbrs in slc and pocket those wherever you go.

BigA1fThe wrath of kpell is a powerful thing. He is the mayor of pow town after all, you don’t wanna lose out on your Emma’s backcountry days. Also you will be fine I worked up there when I was underage (snowbird) and you’re working on the better side, for partying as a group at least.
