BiffbarfTf is willard consulting a out lmao
jimbobsYeah 50 hours was relatively common at my last gig (mech engineer), I'm salary and my contract is for 40 hours/week, but that whole team was overworked.
Got moved to a new team, and now the hours (and workload) are pretty consistently 40, with the rare 45-50 when shit hits the fan.
Basically the job will fuck you over as much as you (or the market) let it. Make yourself and your skillset desirable, and you have more leverage for better pay and/or less stress. Grind now, chill later type shit.
Internship is the bottom of the totem pole, so leverage that and try to network with as many people as you can, just be friendly, talk to people, ask about different jobs and teams, ask about people's path to where they are now.
Opportunities come from weird ahh places sometimes. Sounds corny, but you literally never know. That one random mf you talked to might give you a fire letter of recommendation at some random company he used to work at, then boom: your foot's in the door and you skip the whole first round of interviews. Stuff like that.
