I personally have mixed feelings about the results of this election, but my big takeaway is this:
Canadians are not conservative, and the CPC is out of touch.
The Conservatives haven’t won since 2011. It was close this year, but in many ridings, they only win because the progressive vote is split between the Liberals, NDP, and Greens. This means that there are quite a few ridings where the majority of voters wanted a progressive MP and are forced to be represented by a Conservative. This is inherently undemocratic. It will be interesting to see how the CPC adapts. Also, I know I’m being generous by calling the Liberals progressive.
