I can only afford one set of skis, is the K2 kf a bad choice?

So my revolt 104s are pretty much cooked, and I was looking to go for something different and switch it up a bit next season, I can't afford or carry 2 or more pairs of skis, and I was thinking of the kf's. Probably going to be spending next winter somewhere in BC, looking to improve my freeride game and cliff drops, with a few easy laps through the park, and cruising the occasional groomer, I know the setbacks of only skiing a fat ski, but I'm more interested in something that's fun and a bit daft, rather than solely practical, but I just wanted to know whether the good outweighs the bad to just use pow skis for a season. Never owned anything bigger than the 104s. Cheers.

I say it's a bad choice solely based on the fact that it's new and will be priced at like $800. Looks like a good ski for your use case but if affordability is an issue at all you should be shopping this spring for a pair of sticks at 50% off.

Honestly I loved them, durability for me was really good, they survived 4 years of me skiing park and super thin, rocky snow with no major damage. They're really fun and buttery considering how well they can hold a carve and aside from ridiculously deep days, they ski pow decent too. fucken terrifying when you're going proper fast though.

Yeah, I'm not planning on buying it right now, I just wanted to figure out exactly what I'm going to buy before the bigger sales online hit.

My bad, I thought these were new for next year. I see them available on Corbets for $640 CAD but only in 177. Go for it. I was just thinking it wouldn't make sense to buy a brand new ski at the beginning of a season for $900 if you're on a budget.

If you like to go at moderate speed and play around the kf is ideal. It's pure définition of a jibby/surfy ski. But certainely not the ski for big drops and going fast, unfortunately it's way too soft and have no backbone at all. Hellbent influence for sur but far from being as versatile, that's why i was disappointed with the kf.

If youre in BC next winter dont worry about only having fat skis you'll be just fine. Most people I know aren't really under 110 like ever. Got a buddy who loves the kf and rides them most days, but hes also wet asf rides for k2. You might want to look at a reckoner 110 too, I just see those around a lot more in resort and they definitely fit the bill of what youre looking for (cheap too)

If I were you I'd go for a used pair if money's a factor, or even if it isnt, new shit is wildly overpriced I think. Go on the buy/sell here or FB in any ski town and you'll find great deals.

And I'd go for a 108 or 110 to ski park, pow, cliffs, etc. I ski park on 110s and I like it

great recommendation! i've got some 187 helixes in B/S at the moment. 105 under foot is pretty versatile, i reckon. for years, that was my biggest ski and i was gettin pow just fine

The KF is a sick ski but they are pretty soft. More of a BC freestyle ski than a true ‘free ride’ ski.

My 2 cents, the blizzard rustler 11 might be a better choice of you can just have one ski for free ride and everything else. RMU professor 111 would be a great choice too.

KF is super fun, pretty soft though so its more of a pick your line ski rather than a drop in and figure it out on the way ski. The 25/26 graphic is rad too.
