I think it depends on how its prepped and what specific ingredients are included. I'm usually not a fan of the ones with crazy veggie and/or meat combos but my local grocery store makes an olive oil, mozz and basil pasta salad that certifiably slaps, throw some fresh cherry tomatoes in there and its a full meal. oh yea, don't forget a dusting of parmigiana reggiano, preferably a 2 year.

Pasta salad is the bomb. My guess is your neighbors can't make it. I've had some mediocre ones even though it's practically impossible to fuck up. It's ideal for outdoor parties because you won't get food poisoning like good ol potato salad so often does after it sits out

Also who puts straight vinegar in pasta salad? Yeah it's a base of Italian dressing (if that is chosen in the specific recipe) but I've never had one that is overpowered by that. I think y'all have just had bad experiences

olive oil is delicious
peppers are delicious
Onions are delicious
If you put them all together it's declcous. Mayo is the issue in pasta salad.


But people who put mandarin oranges or cranberries in a salad that has lettuce and tomatoes should plead insanity...

I didn’t even realize mayo was in regular pasta salads. Sounds gross.

Anytime I have it, always is olive oil + red wine vinegar, olives, and feta. Usually some other veggies like cucumber, red peppers are in there

It's pretty easy to fuck up pasta salad. I feel bad a lot of people haven't experienced some banger pasta salad. It's a nice dish in the summer.
