ON3PoliDoes anyone know of any companies other than Arena and Coastal jibs that make features for terrain parks. Based in BC Canada. The closer the better
ON3PoliYeah this would be for next season for the park I work at. The newest rail we have here is 10 years old and lots of our rails are slowly falling apart. Lots of the hills around us aren’t huge fans and aren’t willing to give us their old stuff
partyandBSi was gonna say snowpark tech but apparently they went under?! but google seems to have a few builders but you may be able to commission some builds from local resorts. in general, most places think a rising tide lifts all ships but i wouldnt even waste the time to ask a VR like whistler lol. much more likely to get it through a different resort. if you want it for this winter tho, you can go ahead and fuck right off lol. likely too late to get anything from anyone unless you already have material on hand or they wanna sell some pre-built features.
i was given retired features from a resort after the season and it was fuckin sick. they are soooo heavy compared to anything i built and take like 7 people to move but resort features are for sure next level quality.
deadhead420Why do you need a ski specific company to make the features? seems like the terrain park manager could design the features and hire any mobile welding and fabrication company to build the features at the resort in the summer. Might need an engineer to make the technical drawings and source the correct thickness and grade of steel for the mobile welder
partyandBSliability.
lets say the weld snaps and someone gets hurt and then sues (they might not do that up in canada like they do here tho) and then they find out some good ol boys who have never skied much less made a feature before just slapped something together that failed. seems higher risk and hard to pass the liability on to the vendor
-skian-What resort? Sounds familiar.

a_burgerany mobile welding/fabrication operation is not going to have a weld snap on a terrain park rail from people skiing it lol. I've seen some dodgy welds on park features but 99% of the time it's the cat that will break them during setup or grooming. Anyone selling their welding skills is going to have certs and won't fuck up a simple 12 gauge mild steel fabrication job.
OP if you do contract it to a non skier I find sch 40 pipe for round sliding surface and 12 gauge 2x2 square tubing for legs works great. You can get 3in wide strips of 12 gauge as well and quickly cut them into a million tabs for the plywood. 12 Gauge is fairly strong but also light enough 3 people can manhandle a rail around, I'd size up a bit in thickness for anything longer then 30ft though
