Considering making the drive up to the twin cities for the holiday weekend and the following week to enjoy the rope tows. I'm hesitant to go based on the forecast but it's the only time I can make it this season.
From Missouri so not used to it being that cold. If anything keeps you warm it's rope tow skiing. Is it worth it? I love to ski and shi but idk man

Yeah its gonna be brutal but that's how it is up here. Imagine if you were going to Canada!
I'm a bit north of the cities. I don't like skiing in this cold but I do it anyway, just take lots of breaks inside to thaw out.
What resorts are you going to ? Are you doing any of the Tell a friend tour stops?
I'm not going to rag on you for being from somewhere warmer, but I gotta say, if I didn't go skiing at those kinds of temps I'd barely get to go skiing at all!
You'll be fine bro just layer up (baselayer+hoodie/fleece+shell/jacket should be good for those temps), make sure you're not exposing any bare skin to the wind for too long, and unzip stuff or remove layers before you start to sweat.

Layer up, toe warmers and hand warmers if need be, personally I run pretty hot and usually only wear a t-shirt, baselayer and hoodie, or t-shirt and hoodie if it's sunny, but when we had a cold day where it was -8 at Snowbird in the sunshine, it was okay. The coldest days IMO are when it's cloudy and windy and snowy. Honestly, if you're working hard skiing park and hitting stuff, you should be okay, just watch out for sticky rails
I remember when I was 7-8 years old, my grandma got pretty upset at me because I didnt want to go skiing in -32C weather. She kept telling me it was only -23… until she found out she was reading the Farenheit scale as Celsius.
Those were cold days. Quebec City in the 90s was known for its deadly cold snaps.
To deal with excessive cold, you gotta cover exposed skin, insulate the body and keep fingers and feet dry. When your feet or hands freeze, change your gloves or socks. Freezing is caused by humidity, which is something the human body releases abundantly.
Bundle er up. Im in colorado though so our cold days are weird. Worst was negative 25 at crested butte…. But the summit was about 40 degrees warmer. You ski to the base and a wave of cold would hit you. Inversion skiing at its finest. Whip out the thick puffy and sweat wicking undergarments. Lucked out with saga before they shut on a really really warm puffy for only 100 bucks. Maan those days are over rip.
especially if you’re lapping the rope you’ll be fine. keeps the crowds down too. we had a cold snap earlier this season that was worse and i still got some good skiing in.
you ride snow creek and have epic pass? i’m park crew at afton so should be around if you come here

Planning on hitting all the classics - Hyland, buck, troll, elm, affton alps. Saw troll has the taft on saturday so def gonna go to that.
Keeping dry spare clothes in your car for afterwards is key, like a puffy. Or extra layers in cause you want to swap something out. Glove liners are also a lifesaver. Goggles and a buff for sure, cover your face from wind.
And it's fine to take warming breaks if you need to, to have a warm drink and such.
Have you ever actually used them before? I’m not talking to bulky hand warmers. Toe warmers are thin and sticky on one side. Not everyone has room for them, they barely fit in my 95mm last head raptor. But in most boots park rats ride they will fit great
cyphersif you can fit an entire warmer in your toe box you need to get fitted for smaller boots

i've used them in my work boots. no chance they're fitting in my ski boots tho and i have a 98 last. different strokes i guess but having anything besides a thin ski sock in my boot would bug the fuck out of me
