No hate on her at all, she’s super dope. Just confused if it’s her sponsors making her do all these events or if she chose too. Seems like it could have been an opportunity for another rookie to get in, and it seems like she’s implying that she isn’t going for gold because she’s skiing too much. Doesn’t make sense to me.
abjectwoeUnless she's being forced to do this by sponsors, complaining about it on Instagram is super lame.
Maybe China make her do all comps. Chinese rider in big air had China jacket like it was olympics or something i think they want to make it in freeski. Like China want to be a big country in freeski if that makes sense and Eileen is their biggest star. Idk im just guessing but it would make sense.

I think there’s a difference between complaining and being transparent and vulnerable about where you’re at, especially in her case with so many eyes on her. Sucks to be running on an empty tank and having to be perceived on such a large scale, big ups to her for being real and honest about it

Shocker CCP athlete being worked/push to the point of robbing enjoyment out of a pursuit that inherently was never made to have this level of competition to begin with.

China's incursion into Freesking is fucking Disgusting. It has killed the comp side of the sport (which was dead as soon FIS got involved).
It would have been unconscionable in 2004 NS of China having a SlopeStyle Team
She’s a great skier but beyond tired of hearing her name throughout this weekends commentary. She’s done well for a couple years in comps and has now focused a bunch of energy on other things outside of skiing. Good for her but we saw the same thing with Gus kenworthy. When you spend more time doing modeling gigs etc instead of training you’re going to have a bad time at comps.

Yeah you are right, complaining wasn’t the right word. But unless she was being forced to compete in all of these events, I don’t understand not dropping out of one or 2 and letting a rookie compete (which ended up happening)

Change Back and get China the fuck out of skiing
lmao dude china has nothing to do with this, the olympics happened, they dont give a shit if one chinese athlete does every event, or even cares about a tiny sport like freeskiing. China is not killing the comp side of skiing, what a hilarious trope.
the olympics was the beginning of the end of the comp skiing you enjoyed, now its a real competition circuit, which I understand why you don't like that. but before the olympics, comp skiing was pretty loose and yes it was "cooler" and more enjoyable.
You already know why the events suck, its because of FIS, you literally said it. blaming china is completely out of pocket.
Eileen likely feels obligated to participate in all of her events because of sponsors and coaches, one day she will probably choose slope or pipe only, but we saw a similar thing with kelly sildaru, she wore herself out doing all disciplines every event.
But, its their choice to do this, I don't really like the take that someone like Eileen should bow out so a rookie/alternate can take their spot, Eileen is more likely to win that event than them and has earned her spots in those events.

I understand the whole being upfront and transparent on social media, but anytime there is stuff like this, male or female, my eyes glaze over. its ok if things out of your control prevent you from skiing your best, but I dont need a whole novel of why it happened/why i should feel bad for you

I agree with most of this. However my point in saying she should let a rookie compete was because in her story, she said her only goal in x games was to make it out healthy. This is clearly implying that she thinks/knows she is doing too much and risking injury (which ended up happening). If her goal in these events isn’t to win, but to just make it out healthy, I think it would be completely reasonable to drop one of them in order to preserve herself.
You mean this communist who earned $22.1m in 2024, and is sponsored by LV, Tiffany's, and Porsche?
But she also earned 31 million from Chinese endorsements
”The site Insider cited a report from CBN Data, a Shanghai-based research firm, as saying Gu brought in 200 million Yuan (or over $31 million) in 2021”
Been praying on her downfall since she betrayed the greatest country on earth! Having my prayers answered and watching her failures has been incredibly satisfying. Our God is great!

I mean, I think she puts herself out there more than any skier on earth, male or female. Imo she's carrying exponetially more scrutiny, pressure, and obligation than any of her counterparts can even fathom. Chinese celebrity culture is very intense. Respect ✌️
