All mountain (mainly freeride) boot recs

The overwhelming answer you’ll get here is just to find boots that fit. There’s not really a specific “freeride” boot that will behave any differently to an other type of boot, just find something that fits well, and if you’re skiing at a pretty high level, a stiffer boot with a flex range of 120/130.

Go to a boot fitter although if you want a stiff boot and dont see yourself doing any touring, Id recommend avoiding those versions of the boot as they may ski a bit softer. I find the walk mode clamp can give a little on some boots like my atomic hawx prime 130 xtd’s. Solid overall but theres been some charging moments where i feel like i could have enjoyed a bit more stiffness. Going to a bootfitter will also grant you some guarantees you might not get elsewhere like a replacement if it doesn't work after a couple days. You may also get adjustment discounts too.

But if you don't... a boot the NS nerds don't talk about, If you have a narrowish foot, get a used race boot, put a new intuition tongue liner and a good footbed. I've been able to find race boots for pretty cheap at swaps, consignments shops, ebay, ect. over the last years. Race boot with upgraded liner is the best price to preformace you can get in my opinion.

Race boot the move tbh. Get the forward lean brought back to ~14dg and you chillin.

Or mount your skis at -2.5cm instead of center and use the stock forward lean. Kinda achieves the same effect.

NathanDSo I left my boots too close to a fire to heat up and the heel on one completely melted. It now pops out randomly while skiing. I am looking for new boots that won't completely destroy my bank account. I don't really know much about boot stiffness, flex, etc. I mainly ski big mountain freeride stuff but I want something that can go pretty much anywhere. Any recs?

What boot did you melt and how do those fit?
