I had an idea to create a thread where skiers can post what sins they have done in their skiing past.
For example, I stupidly bought dope snow when I was getting started in park skiing. Foregive me, skiers, for I have sinned

I’m to afraid to try anything new on skis unless there is someone with me that knows how to do it and does it. I also don’t have any friends to ski with. Therefore I peaked and it’s all worse skiing from here

partyandBSin 6th grade i saw an episode of rocket power where they were snowblading in basically a snow skate bowl and i exclusively snowbladed through 8th grade.

edit: the reason i stopped was cause someone chirped me from the lift saying “whats the hardest part of snowblading?” i thought about it was was about to say getting speed for the jumps but before i could say anything they said “having to tell your parents your gay!” so i never snowbladed again

I saw some Japan Gravity Games ski boarding big air and slope style in 8th grade and demoed Line ski boards and was hooked for a few years before I realized you could also get longer skis with twin tips.

I still rock a pair of their bibs, got em on sale for $99 before I knew how shitty Lesh was. As much as I dislike the company, and its owner, they've been the most durable and waterproof pair of pants I've had. Don't want to give them any more of my money, so it's gonna be a hard day when I have to replace em.

Totally, the gear wasn’t bad at all but when I learned I couldn’t buy it anymore, I was growing out of what I had anyway and slowly sold it all off. If I had a pair of old FD or older Virtika that fit fs. Respect on still rocking em without buying more.

I find 360s and upright spins 10x scarier than backflips, I haven’t really thrown a 3 off a jump since early spring of last season and I backflip almost every day I go skiing depending on conditions.

Sometimes I when I ski I get progressively more angry throughout the day. I can’t explain it, like I’d be having a great day skiing with my friends or something but starting at like 11am I’d be getting pissed off. This occasionally happens without skiing involved but not as much. Like maybe 4 out of every 10 ski days this happens. I hope it’s just some teenage hormonal bullshit that will go away later cause it truly does ruin my day sometimes. I really can’t explain it

The same thing happens to me and I think it's from lack of sleep, water, and food. Usually, when I'm skiing I have to wake up hella early and ill forget to eat

I caught my tips on a backflip last spring and got 4 squashed discs and constant back/neck pain. Now backflips scare me and I hatch my breath every time I see ski tips come close.

mine was not even a cool backflip.

I don't really want to ski 30+ days in a row. I would ski and feel a hell of a lot better if I only skied 5-6 days a week, but you can't reason with an addict.

A few years ago I really wanted Vishnu wides, but i was hella poor and couldn’t afford them. At that same time, my brother who was like 40 decided he wanted to learn to ski, so i convinced him that he needed to get 183 Vishnu wides with pivot 18s as his set up. Fast forward a few years- those skis have been involved in an ACL incident and I now have a pair of Vishnu wides.

I don't know how anyone does any sport or physical activity for 30 days in a row. If I go 3 days in a row I get sore/tired and my performance takes a noticeable hit. Also mentally I just lose motivation but I guess I'm a pessimist. Give me a day or two of rest and then I'm good to go.

i think he should, because wax doesn't just make you go faster, it also makes the skis glide better and initiate turns better etc etc. and if they're really bad, snow sticking to his bases isn't gonna help him have fun the first time he goes in a while

It's a fun place to ski no doubt and I've had some unreal times there but it's definitely got a "our shit doesn't stink" vibe to it.

No dumbass. I live with mountains of catholic guilt.

I was speaking about the concept of humorous ‘sport’ specific ‘sins’.

The OP was trying to pass it off like it was his brand new never thought of idea. He could’ve just said ‘I saw a funny thread where people confess their (insert specific niche here) sins. What are your ski sins?’

Update on this: he showed up at our place ready to ski with a pair of his aunt’s Völkls that he delammed at the tail so he didn’t get them waxed. He used my Chronics for the day and had a good time but needs to go to a boot fitter because he spent most of the day sliding around in his boot.



My skiing confession is that my Chronics are glorified skiboards. I bought 171 despite me being 6’ because they were on sale for 80% off in a tent sale.
