Making this thread because I'm curious who the second person to do a nose butter triple cork was after Henrik did it in 2013. I think that's the most 'before it's time' trick I can think of. Anyone have a better one in mind?

I think Alex Hall did it like 2017 or something but i may remember wrong but Henriks 100% ahead of its time he did it in 2013 and podiumed at the olympics with it 2022
hi_vis360Mike wilson did a dub 10 (Wilson flip) over a half pipe in tbc years before Jon olsson did a way lamer dub
Jacob Wester landed some (and 12s) a year later grabbed at JOI 2006, maybe in practice. It was weird looking too but much cleaner than Wilson’s. Jon’s came in 06/07.
i believe Wilson also landed a no grab dub 10 at WSI or another big air comp in 2005 that was clean
Maybe not the trick in isolation, but Candide’s D-spin 7 over Chad’s Gap in 2000.
It was years before anything close to as cool was done and at the time the progress in the sport was exponential. The fact it took four more years for the first snowboarder to hit it is crazy.
SlowbroMy answer to the question is probably Jossi Well’s sw dub 14 at JOI 2007 in practice. YouTube vid has been privated sadly.
That trick didn’t become common until around 2013.
Bobby Brown was the only guy with sw dub misties for at least 2 seasons, that trick was fucked at the time
Andri Ragettli’s sw trip misty is also up there. I think he still might be the only guy to land one
Agreed with you on Jossi's sw dub 14. Not grabbed but still have to give it credit for how insanely ahead of its time it was. Don't ask me how I found this, it took years of searching, but I tracked down a video that has it. At the 4:00 mark.

thanks g! took some time for sure, haha. important to have historical records like this online.
also, to answer the original question, from what I can remember, I agree with what was said above, that Ragettli did the second one. X Games slope 2018. anybody else able to find earlier than that?
For rails it's gotta be Corey Vanular inventing 2p2, game was never the same from that point onward.
For jumps i would go with Sammy Carlson's dub Bio (dub orbital whatever) just because it's still such a rare axis. I rarely ever see comp skiers chucking dub bios even in 2024 besides henrik a couple years ago

Yo thanks for finding that shot I made a comment on here at least 10 years ago with a link to the original YouTube vid. I think it was higher quality and I was so bummed when I found it was privated.
duncan Adam’s sw dub 12 looked way different than the sw dub 10 to late 180 that most guys do, it was a proper 9 to 3 and looked scary af.
i forgot about pipe.
Bowmans sw alley oop dub 9 looked like it was from the future when he first started doing them.
Jon Sallinens sw alley oop dub 12 and Simon Dartois’ alley oop dub cork 10 still haven’t been done by anyone else to my knowledge
Nico’s sw dub 14 has only been landed by him and Seung Hun from Korea according to some pipe skiers I met during the COP World Cup. Everyone should watch Seung Hun btw. He boosts 5 ft higher than anyone else.
also, McFee was my coach as a kid. Quite the character. I think he might have been the first guy to flip on to a rail, as well as flip off of a rail, but not 100%

If I remember right Justin Dorey also claims inventing the 2p2. I think a couple ppl probably independently did but Corey's has video proof. One of the GOATs
Way*MoExcept that was years after the ‘Risky Flip’ which should be considered the first modern double cork. D-spin 7 to back flip.
This is technically true but I think Wilson's was as much of a key part of the progression being a cork 5 to switch cork 5, less inverted and much more like a lot of the rotations in modern dub 10s.
In terms of before it's time tricks, remeber Pete Olenick's 'Whisky Flip"? First consistently landed half pipe dub in a competition run.

SofaKingSickwait hold the phone, i don't think anyone's mentioned what to me might still be the most enduring, iconic trick ever: tanner sw9 over chad's
forget the fall, blasting a sw9 on chad's in 2005 still might be the most unreal shit in skiing history
Changed my mind on the jump trick i picked, fakie bomb into chads in 2005 is definitely the most "before it's time" trick ever i completely forgot he stomped it lol
24:47 (2001) but enjoy the segment before as well. monstrous hits...
also check out this-- it's a re-edit of the 3 wind-up films by kris ostness (so it has a ton of absolutely nuts gap jumps from back in the day) and has a clip of a different clip of the risky flip aka old school dub 10

Crazy that people were sending dubs on Chads and Leviathan 20 years ago....I've always felt old skiing had was a little more gnarly in many cases, and that kind of sums up that attitude

the level of skiing is so insane that ive forgotten a few tricks i never thought could slip my mind. i just remembered that karl has done a 10 over chad's, tim mchesney did a beautiful dub 10 over it as well, and i think dale did a rodeo 10 blunt or cuban over pyramid

munproAgreed with you on Jossi's sw dub 14. Not grabbed but still have to give it credit for how insanely ahead of its time it was. Don't ask me how I found this, it took years of searching, but I tracked down a video that has it. At the 4:00 mark.

Butter whatevers everyone had been doing in parks since snowboarders invented it in the old days, and skiers finally caught up wayyyy before Harlaut did it, though, not to rob Harlaut of how incredibly cool he looked doing it. But I think the most progressive thing about it was getting away with it in a competition.
The single most impactful "progress" trick in my book is and always was Jon Olsson's Kangaroo flip. Mostly because at the time (I believe it was in 2005) TJ Schiller maxed out the horizontal spin capacity at the USFO (which I was competing at and got to see him do it at the time!) with a 1440. People kind of said "welp, i guess it's over now. Spin to win has been done," and Jon's Kang kinda kicked off an entirely new axis for tricks that revitalized competition. And even better, all the kids had access to it and could train for it on their tramps unlike a 1440, which kind of sucks to throw period, let alone on skis
