Number of Boarders vs skiers-Big Snow

HellalitOkay, this is a genuinely unimportant thread and string of ideas. I was simply wondering. As a big snow pass holder, I've been to the fridge a lot, and I've noticed that there have been more boarders in the park than skiers.

I could be totally wrong, but this is interesting because I see a more even spread on actual hills.

This just popped into my head, and I could totally be 100% wrong. If I seem to be partially correct about this, any reason why this might be the case?

I think it depends on the mountain and park, some places I’ve been it’s mainly skiers and other way more snowboarders

for beginners getting into snow sports I think snowboarding is more of a appeal to them than skiing because it’s still the new thing and the quote on quote cooler sport to do in a beginners eyes, but over all still plenty of people getting into skiing so hard to say

always find it funny that beginners choose snowboarding more often. I get the appeal, but it's so less practical, at least at real ski areas with flat terrain, although even at big snow mobility can be an issue. early last season at sugarbush, when all the New Jersey Koreans (buttpillows included, they all seem to disappear by mid season lol!) come up, there was a poor lady snowboarder stuck at the bottom of hotshot under gatehouse lift for at least 2 runs ;n; by the time I resolved to help her she had gotten down though haha.

I think it’s bc it’s closer to a city where people try snowboarding cause they think it’s cool vs. skiing which they see as less cool due to the skiing media they’ve seen. Most casuals probs associate skiing with racing

It’s because snowboarders are like hella gangsta and congregate in urban areas
