CaseyWhat do you use the 7w for? I was thinking that might be a good addition for me but I’ve never really hit one.
theabortionatorHopefully beer and mushrooms
iH8powWe successfully did the 9s (9 ski runs, 9 holes of golf, 9 beers, 9 hotdogs…)
NovahAGHello rain, please go away.
VTshredder69Come again, yet.... another day.
hb_lazidk where yall are living at, but I just had a week of blue sky 70 and sunny
mr_hartlWhat's in the bag for 2025?
mr_hartlI actually just added the 7W over the winter. I'll be swapping it in and out with my 3 Hybrid depending on conditions.
I tend to hit a lower launching shot, the 7W helps get the ball up in the air on the longer approach shots (215 - 225 yards) and lands with a better angle to hold greens. Also, out of thicker and heavier rough its a cheat code for getting through the turf and getting the ball out, where a hybrid or iron might hang up more.
I'll likely swap the 3 hybrid back in the bag on a more links style course where I'm looking to keep the ball out of the wind and more run on the ground.
JFUDR - Cobra radspeed
3W - Taylormade RBZ
5i-Pw - Taylormade RBZ Tour

58*- talormade milled grind 3 (co worker gifted to me along with foot joy golf shoes)
putt- Scotty Cameron Newport
I desperately need to get some more wedges.
eheathI'd say get yourself a 56* before a 3 iron.
eheathThat's a pretty big gap from pw to 58*, no?

hb_lazyeah I need wedges pretty bad, but the gap has made me get pretty good with my swing speed control.
JFUFair call, but imo I don't use wedges enough to reason getting a 56. Like I'll either be in the position where I can alter my Pw or 52 to land short or just hit a bump and run instead of a more lofted wedge. I struggle on long par 3's around 170-190m ones and that's where I think I can utilise a 3iron. I'm not accurate enough with woods to be confident over the ball with them compared to irons.
eheathYou really should get both. You only have 11/14 clubs in your bag, a 56/58 can be very useful over a 52. If you really like hitting your 52, maybe even go for a 60 to give you a nice lofted option. Hitting a 52 out of the sand or short sided on a green is a big disadvantage.
I would recommend a hybrid to fill your 3/4 iron, try some out, you'll be surprised how nice it is to hit a hybrid over an iron at that loft.
Now, which tees are you playing with 170m+ par 3s? Even in utah where we play at around 4000-5000ft (1200-1500m) its quite rare to find a par 3 over 190m/210yd unless you are playing 7000 yard (6400m) or farther tees, which is usually the longest you will find at any public course.
What is your handicap? If you don't have a handicap, what's your average score? Might be worth considering playing a shorter tee if you are struggling with longer par 3s.

Think I can convince them to do PGATOUR 2K24 instead?
mr_hartlWhat loft is the PW? Then lets build off that with 4 degree gapping.
eheathtime to hit the range

JFUYeah but its also coming form a financial view, I want to get the most out of my golf without spending a fortune. Hence why I only have 11/14. That's also the reason why I can justify getting pro V1's. I sure do hit hard enough to compress them but don't have that kind of money to spend on a hobby I play once or twice a month. I also think that I would use a driving iron more than a wedge in a round so that's also why.
I've tried hybrids but they just didn't click for me, maybe I'll just have to actually try out both and weigh the pros and cons.
My handicap is 19 and my local course is a par 67, so it is a short course but there are a lot of par 4's and they vary from 330-410m and there is couple par 3's that are around the 180 mark. When I top my drive which I do occasionally on the par 4's, I'm left with 250-300m to the pin so that's where I think a 3 iron will help me. Get the ball close enough to the green where it's a stress free chip onto the green. I also play the normal men's tees.
GayWolf420I fucking hate greenskeeping/turfcare as a summer job but damn, I've collected some pretty cool lost clubs from people who have left them on the course and/or from lost and found. I have some decent beater lob and sand wedges and some irons.
iH8powhot dogs were something I wanted no part of yet some other guys at the Rockies game did 9 dogs and kept on going to 11+?! Colorado weed I guess
CaseyOne time I got so stoned that I abandoned my group to walk back like two groups to see if they picked up my wedge. I ran into the marshal and informed him of the situation, only to walk back and catch up with group and see my wedge was in my bag.
hb_lazhas anybody ever tried takomo irons? im looking into buying a new set of irons, and I ran into takomo. every single review has been outstanding, and they are very cheap as far as irons go. they look like a very solid choice. does anyone have any thoughts on them?

SchwagsShot 112 yesterday. Was doing great with driving and fairway shots, but flubbed half my chips and 3 or 4 putted nearly every hole. FUN!
