Full Tilt Soul Shell Gripwalk Upgrade

I wanted to share this since I had not seen someone talk about this compatibility, and thought someone may find this helpful if they wanted to extend the life of their boots.

In short:
The K2 Revolver Team GripWalk Outsoles are compatible with full tilt 2013+ pro models (Soul Shell).

Full story if you're bored (I'm just excited that I get to keep using my favorite boots):
I recently had some look pivot 12 GW (GripWalk) mounted to my skis and was told by my local shop that my ski boots were not compatible with my bindings, and I would need a new pair since mine were beyond the point of repair. I started looking into new boots and wanted to keep the same shell type as my current 2014 Full Tilt Seth Morrison Pro and was looking into the new K2 FL3X line and noticed that they use the same "Full Tilt Soul" shell with the updated GripWalk outsoles. I couldn't find a shell that I really liked, with the intuition wrap. I then found online that K2 sells the GripWalk outsoles for the "Revolver Team" model in their parts department, but couldn't find anything online about someone using these outsoles on older full tilts. They were only $40, so I figured I would give it a shot and see if they would fit, and it turns out they do! The swap was really easy, I would recommend that you reuse as many of the old screws that you can (they were able to seat better than the new ones). I think the upgrade came out pretty good and I'm excited to extend the life of my Full Tilts. Hope someone finds this helpful.

Yeah all k2 Fl3x parts are compatible with full tilt boots. We literally only changed the name :)

Thats really cool of K2. But do u know why the industry all doesn’t include a set of non GW pads in the box when they buy a new set of GW boots? Telling a customer that their new boots aren’t “compatible” with their current skis is often a bummer in the new boot buying process. They suck it up n cop the retro fit, but I can tell they’re pissed off about it lol

(I know I grill u about boot shit lol.. but this isn’t a dig at k2. ALL boot companies are doin this!)

Basically we know very few people will actually use the alpine soles so if we include them we are basically including an injected plastic part which will never be used and will ultimately probably end up in landfill.

I won’t say it does not save us money too as obviously not including them keeps the cost lower but it really is mainly to cut down on plastic waste.

Thats valid. Can’t believe I didn’t put that together lol… our shop would turn around n re-use em. But not everyone is us. We hoard all parts just incase.

Yeah ultimately though even if your shop holds onto them if them come with every single pair you will end up getting rid of them too. There just are not enough people with non gripealk bindings these days to make it feasible. But we have no plans to discontinue alpine soles so for those who need them they will still be available.

Idk how many times you’ve replaced the sole on your FT boots, but if it’s over 4 times you will need brand new boots. It’s dangerous to replace the soles any more than that even if the soles are brand new.

Y'all also changed the colors, can't get all black anymore. All good though, I like seeing everyone else in goofy looking boots. Feel bad for the kids though, they are stuck with the worst color options.

I mean we changed the colors of FullTilt boots every season too. But if you like black I can assure you we have some black boots coming.

This is why shops check your boots to see if they’re still in DIN range regardless of what sole is on it. If anything is worn off of the hard plastic parts of the toe and heel lugs, then the boot’s compatibility to the binding is more likely compromised and you’ll need to replace your boots.
