I'm looking for a shell that is pretty thin for hot days and a decent bit waterproof. Doesn't need to be goretex. I don't know what is a good price range so any suggestions?

Mountain Hardware has some rain coats that work fantastic as shells. Also happens to look like the Arctryx jacket everyone has.

Independent trading co anorak. Jiberish, Tall T, and a bunch of other brands have slapped their logo and market up the price way up. The shell is like $45 and will keep you dry.

Armada has some decently-priced 2L anorak shells rn that look pretty decent. My buddy picked one up this season and likes it quite a bit -- mostly because he can't forget his pen anymore with the giant front pocket
