realizing my original post does not provide much. I asked my homie to use a stopwatch to count the minutes of b-roll. His drunk ass clicking got us to 12 mins and 38 seconds. I'm not a hater of the bunch, they are crazy good skiers and think on3p 1 is top 25 worthy.
Spoilers:
It is the absolute worst "the bunch" film released to date. It maybe shouldn't be posted to the internet.
Common problem I see nowadays is that some creative people (or people who aspire to be seen as artistic) try to hard to do something “different” and out of the norm that they totally forget that in a ski edit the skiing is the priority.
If you wanna try to do something different I respect that but don’t sacrifice the entertainment of the video to force creativity. True creativity is synonymous with being good, if your idea of being creative is solely based on doing something that hasn’t been done before your missing the point of what being creative is trying to achieve in the first place.
The bunch’s film was horrible in terms of a ski edit but very good in terms of videography. If you didn’t like the film, you aren’t necessarily a hater, you just expected a ski edit and instead you got b-roll. If it was intended to be a ski video it was a failed attempt and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. The sound design, filming, etc. was done extremely well, I hope they learned from the community’s response and make a legit proper ass ski edit this year. They have plenty of really good content under their belt its okay that they kind of missed the mark last time.
I’m so over b roll unless it’s super funny. Show me the CLIPS nobody wants to see you walking up stairs looking baked or shitty drone content of landscapes
When 1000 started I thought they were going to make cool street videos, which they could totally do it they wanted. Who is the target audience for 1000/TheBunch now? Cause it clearly ain’t us

They’re targeting the people who hire the people who make fashion ads. Skiing is just their “cool cred”.
They could fully utilize their clear abundance of creativity and still make a ski move that feels nice to watch. Maybe we’re all just too dumb and American for their developed sensibilities. Can any euro members check in and let us know if you’re into this shit?

Very real post. Need some euro members to let us know.
it wasn’t a ski film. It shoulda been shown at like an Indy movie production premier.

I still like their skiing but 12 minutes of broll in 20 minute film is just way too much. Maybe some other euro guy with more developed sensibilities likes their broll movies.

At this time of posting, this is a NS thread with 1 total down vote; over 10+ posts, everyone is agreeing and also providing input. Idk it brings me joy to know we are still a community with a similar ski mind.
mikemWe are skiers. They are “artists”. We should separate ways.
The bunch has always done things a little outside the box and their videos have rarely been popular with everybody. That’s what has made them a key innovator of newschool ski culture for the past 10 years. But the route of super cinematic videos that are mostly b roll and very little skiing has been treaded before, and it’s not a new cool idea. Have any of you guys seen “Into the Mind” by sherpas cinema? That “ski movie” is absolute dogshit. Too much skiing to be enjoyed by non skiers, and too much b roll to be enjoyed by skiers. That is clearly the path that the bunch is heading down. It seems to me like these guys are completely disconnected from their audience, but playing it off as doing something new, which from my perspective they really aren’t.

Perfectly put.
Seems like they want to go the direction of Stept but still have bodies that can handle skiing so they are making artsy videos that will help them land commercial work in the future, if they aren't already getting that. I'm bummed that we may never see a jaw dropping Bunch street movie again but I get it, skiing in fact isn't everything.

Aren’t they running a ski company though?? Getting out of skiing seems unlikely

This, and it isn't just the future, those guys are already landing some huge commercial gigs. The movie was pretty cool to me, definitely not my favorite but at least it was different and it was sick in a cinema at High Five. But regardless of whether you love or hate it clearly wasn't meant to be ski porn, so if you judge it on that, you're obviously going to be disappointed.

The Bunch are going in different directions to some degree. Magnus and Hackel are driving 1000 Skis more and Jens, Peyben, and some others are at the forefront of the commercial/media wing. Of course, there is overlap but that's kinda the way it's going. In terms of selling skis, I haven't checked in with them lately but I suspect Hackel's TikTok does more than any ski movie would (depressing though I find that).

I don’t believe this, I think people are too quick to assume that social media engagement = sales. I’ve seen quite a few pairs of jetskis at the hill and I have yet to see a pair of 1000s, both started around the same time and jetskis barely exists on social media. Vishnu has based their marketing around ski videos and not you can’t go into a park anywhere without seeing them.
It doesn't matter, which is why I'll keep my thoughts to myself. I just think it's interesting that with the amount of heinous shit that gets posted on here this is the topic that people are like "woah woah let's not talk about that"

This is message is kinda disrespectful lol. Like they're gonna go back to making street videos cuz someone DMed them and told them to. As much as I'd want that, it's not like they owe it to anyone. They've put out a lot of street videos over the years. Is it really a surprise to anyone that at some point they'd move away from that? We all know that street skiing is generally very tough on the body, and it's not particularly lucrative either.

CowboySkibopHave not watched it yet but y’all sleep on B-Roll. b roll is what gives a film flavor!!
Not all broll is created equally. Some shots are boring. Also depends on how you edit it. I'm guessing the bunch video is gonna have some interesting behind the scenes broll but also probably a lot of landscape shots which can get repetitive easily.

Nope. Y’all will be so confused when you watch it.

That's a shame lol I was basing that off their last video which I thought had some really dope skiing and some broll shots but was a bit of a snoozefest to me
