theabortionatorI think the gate keeper thing gets thrown around way too much. The biggest gate keeper is the price of equipment and lift tickets.
It's normal to feel out of place if you feel like everyone else might be better than you. Hell if this was a skate forum, or even a skate park. Then like anything else you stick around a little and everyone's pretty cool.
Sure maybe there are people at the skate park or on the hill that are really good, but that's not gate keeping. A lot of the time the real shredders are pretty chill anyway and will hype you up even if you're just learning to hit a rail or 360.
Idk, I just think people throw "gatekeeping" at everything these days.
OP, people are learning 360s, hitting their first rail, or posting some huge road gap they did a flip over, and everything in between. It's an online form, there's some weird assholes lurking, but for the most part everyone is chill and supportive especially regarding skiing progression.

honestly, claiming shit on the forums is heavily looked down upon so in theory your skill level shoudn't really ever make much of a difference in how you read and post on here
